China's first industrial robot production line is expected to start operation in the northeastern city of Shenyang this month.

SIASUN Robot and Automation Co Ltd will be the first to jump start China's industrial robot production with an annual capacity of 5,000. Their facilities will produce robots applied in welding, hauling, assembling, stacking, grinding and polishing, according to Qu Daokui, the company's CEO.

He said the production line is undergoing tests and the exact date of operation is yet to be announced. The application of robots has expanded from the high-end industries such as automobile and electronics manufacturing to traditional industries, including metal processing, bathroom hardware, food and drinks, said Qu, who is also director general of China Robot Industry Alliance.

China became the world's largest industrial robot market in 2013 with 37,000 industrial robots sold in the country, accounting for 20 percent of the global market.

Rising labor costs and aging population have prompted the application of industrial robots in China, which at the same time boosts the intelligent transition of the manufacturing industry, said Ding Han, an academician with the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

20th ~ 21th century, the evolution of science and technology:

Industry Revolution ==> Electronic Technology Revolution ==> Computer & Communication Technology Revolution ==> MCU & Embeded System Revolution ==> Artificial Intelligence & Robort Revolution

China in the 1st tier of scientific revolution, GOD BLESS CHINESE & CHINA !

Is China replacing 1.4 billions by industrial robots?
Hah... Good luck.

Apply one child policy 50 years more.

100 of million of young chinese workers paid almost slave wages and you want to build robots to replace that labor?
interesting.

China is actually walking towards the future where eventually mechanics will be used to do most of the work since they dont have human limitations. Good step towards a more greater future. I am sure if America was doing this then many would have said "how far ahead america is and how far-fetched is chinas attempts to become a super power since america is soo ahead."

Good work. Economy and military might dont make a super power alone. You also need to be scientifically aware as well and china is taking good steps.

Lets hope this doesnt come to pass though :P :P

interesting.

China has a labour shortage as people no longer want to work in the manufacturing sector and are being employed in the rapidly growing services sector.

Robots bring increase in productivity, efficiency and improve quality.

It frees up labour to work in high paying service sector.
Just like machinery made jobs in the agricultural sector obsolete. Same thing is happening in the manufacturing sector.

China has what a few million peasants coming from the rural areas to cities every year. not seeing how you could have a shortage of labor anytime soon.

We already are doing this

China has what a few million peasants coming from the rural areas to cities every year. not seeing how you could have a shortage of labor anytime soon.

But they are becoming reluctant to work in manufacturing sector due to the low wages (although rapidly rising), safety hazards, etc.

Companies too want to use robots as labour wages are rising very fast so they fire workers and invest in industrial robots as they don't have to pay the increasing wages every year and can make a one off investment for a good 5-10 years.
