US weapon are more and more expensive and attached with too much political burden.

Thailand with a slow growing economy are in need of more modern weapons to counter other rising ASEAN countries. With a limited military budget, China is the idea military supplier to fulfil most Thai armed forces needs within that pool of money while doing away the political condition.

Slowly, US military will be more and more irrelevant to Thailand and replaced by China.
