Another twist report from aljazeera. That is not how global times reported... See how this Qatar supported media distort the original news.China passes law to make Islam 'compatible with socialism'
New decree seeks to 'guide Islam', as crackdown against Muslims and Islamic symbols continues.
05 Jan 2019 GMT+3
China has passed a new law that seeks to "Sinicize" Islam within the next five years, the latest move by Beijing to rewrite how the religion is practised.
China's main English newspaper, Global Times, reported on Saturday that after a meeting with representatives from eight Islamic associations, government officials "agreed to guide Islam to be compatible with socialism and implement measures to Sinicize the religion."
The newspaper did not provide further details or the names of the associations that agreed to the decree.
China has embarked on an aggressive "Sinification" campaign in recent years with faith groups that were largely tolerated in the past seeing their freedoms shrink under Chinese President Xi Jinping, China's most powerful leader since Mao Zedong.
Practising Islam has been made forbidden in parts of China, with individuals caught praying, fasting, growing a beard or wearing a hijab, a headscarf worn by Muslim women, facing the threat of arrest.
According to the UN, more than one million Uighur Muslims are estimated to be held in internment camps where they are forced to denounce the religion and pledge allegiance to the officially atheist ruling Communist Party.
Rights groups have accused China of engaging in a campaign of ethnic cleansing. In August, a Washington Post editorial said the world "can't ignore" the campaign against Muslims.
Islamic crescents and domes have been stripped from mosques, and according to the Associated Press news agency, religious schools and Arabic classes have been banned and children barred from participating in Muslim activities.
China has rejected the criticism, saying it protects the religion and culture of its minorities.
However, in the past week alone, authorities in China's Yunnan province, which borders Mynamar, have closed three mosques established by the marginalised Hui Muslim ethnic minority, the South China Morning Post has reported.

Excuse me, you are clueless about theology; this is how jurisprudence is established; it is not like the communist keep quiet and master mao is god. Islam and Judaism follow the same principles of debates.
"They are all learning about the religion of Islam and not learning anything else," he said
"As a result, those who pass in schools are not very conversant with subjects that are useful for them to get jobs, but they are very good ulama (Muslim clerics)."
"And when you have too many ulama, they always differ from each other, and they mislead their followers and they quarrel with each other,"
money can buy you anything even love![]()
Well put, let us put pledges on our signatures on our profiles or speak about their plight. This is the only way to resist the communist party lies they are spreading and people are buying their truth.Timur, that was uncalled for.
Tell me what muslim country that has done something concretely for our Uighur brothers and sisters. Not just talk, but actually something concrete, such as cutting trade ties with china, cutting diplomatic ties with china, threatened china militarily or otherwise. They are all for money too, it seems. NO one wants to lose much. Just talk will not help Uighur muslims.
An overwhelming number of Pakistanis support our uighur muslims brothers and sisters with our hearts. We all feel their pain, and we fee angry at ourselves for being such a failure. Just like others, we can't do anything concrete. Its just the harsh truth. Just like Kashmir, we can just vent our anger for uighur muslims too but that's all we can do at this stage.
As far as government is concerned, they are doing like those other governments in the muslim world "who are not taking any real practical steps" to protect Uighur Muslims.
Reality is, no body is really doing anything. Few cosmetic steps will not help uighur muslims. Since such steps are just to appease local population and look good.
Unless some country actually stands militarily, diplomatically and economically for our Uighur muslims brethren, they are no different than any other in the real sense. Its just the reality.
This is not the time to fight among ourselves just because pakistan or some other muslim country is not doing what an idealized Muslim nation would have done. We are imperfect just like others.
What we muslim nations need, is to develop militarily, economically and technologically and project a united front ultimately so that we can actually stop big nations from anti-Muslim undertakings. If enemies of Islam suffer too, if their skin is in the game as well, they will stop hurting muslims. That's the only way.
@Alternatiiv, there are already two threads on this topic. They are from January this year. Look at the "Similar threads" section.

China will soon release an outline on the sinicization of Islam, with Islamic communities urged to uphold the sinicization of their religion by improving their political stance and following the Party's leadership.
Representatives from local Islamic associations from eight provinces and regions, including Beijing, Shanghai, Hunan, Yunnan and Qinghai provinces, discussed a five-year (2018-22) outline on the sinicization of Islam at a seminar in Beijing on Saturday.
They agreed that the outline is the basic policy for Islamic sinicization for the next five years, according to a statement published on the China Islamic Association's website.
The outline also clarifies the primary work and measures for the sinicization of Islam.
Yang Faming, head of the China Islamic Association, said relevant measures should be implemented, including the holding of lectures and providing training on socialist core values, laws and traditional culture, as well as guiding Muslims through vivid stories with a positive spirit.
Jin Rubin, deputy chairman of the China Islamic Association, told the Global Times on Sunday that the outline's content will soon be released to the public after further revisions, and has already been distributed to local Islamic associations. The outline's draft was passed in December 2017.
This year is a critical year for implementing the outline, Ma Jin, a deputy head of 12th bureau of the United Front Work Department of Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, told the seminar.
Ma stressed the importance of improving their political stance and following the Party's lead.
Gao Zhanfu, a vice dean of the Beijing-based China Islamic Institute, said on Sunday that sinicization of Islam has "matured" since the concept was brought forward in 2015 by President Xi Jinping.
The sinicization of Islam is not about changing the beliefs, habits or ideology of Islam but to make them compatible with socialist society, Gao told the Global Times.
He said books will be used in mosques in 2019 to help believers achieve a better understanding of Islam sinicization.
In September 2017, leaders from five religious communities - Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism and Protestant - reached a consensus at a forum. They agreed that "the direction of religions is to integrate them with Chinese culture."
Although Protestant has already been sinicized in terms of sovereignty, the sinicization of theology and its cultural denotation has yet to be achieved, Fu Xianwei, chairman of the China Three-Self Patriotic Movement of the Protestant Churches, said at the forum.
In November of the same year, the Protestant community passed a draft five-year outline, which requires the communities to strengthen the theological foundation for the sinicization of Protestantism.
Catholic churches passed a draft version of a five-year outline to promote the sinicization of Catholicism in December 2017.

Indonesia too came up with similar measure to stop Salafism. The extreme of this sect called for banning of Indonesia culture, traditional costumes and even basic values. They make Indonesian muslims all start wearing burqa and intolerant to other religion..
I dont see how Chinese try doing is any different from Indonesia for their muslims.
Mods need to stop exposing their hypocrisy. You don't decide what makes sense and what doesn't. This isn't a monologue, and this thread isn't breaking any rule.

very good.....but wake up,wake up,wake upExcellent post.
We just need to look in our neighbourhood to see what is in store for Muslims:
1. Myanmar - Rohingya
2. India - Kashmiris and now all Indian Muslim
3. China - Uighurs
I am so hopeful that we may be able to start the process of having a united Muslim bloc that can look out for the interests of Muslims worldwide.
The following countries should form the core now:
1. Turkey - Most industrialised Muslim country and a large population
2. Iran - Decent tech, large population and massive energy reserves
3. Indonesia - Decent technology and economy and largest Muslim population
4. Malaysia - Richest non-oil Muslim country
The following 2 should join within a decade when they are free of Gulf states and China:
5. Pakistan - Strong conventional military and only Muslim nuclear power. Strategic location on the Arabian Gulf
6. BD - Fastest growing economy and large population.
If these 6 Muslim countries formed a united bloc then not only will their citizens be better off but they could do so much more for all other Muslims around the world.
