That. We can't compare companies that are purely Chinese and companies bought by Indian firms. Two very different things. BTW, there is a very high chance that the modem we Indians are using is built by Huawei (mine is)

IBM doesn't produce personal computers anymore. So you hardly can buy any IBM computers at all, not even in Germany, Europe biggest market. All the ThinkPads are branded as Lenovo here.

IIRC Lenovo, Huawei, BYD, Haier and Galanz are 100 % private companies.

since i dont know about any of the name u ve listed about except Lenovo...can u tell me ...why does it sell its products by puttting IBM brand name in its sales campaign? just bcoz u manufacture it in china, it doesnt mean its ur tech?? does it??? may be yes for u ...as u ve copied everything that u first bought under the pretend of buyer and then become a competitor of OEM....need retrospection...no?

It was part of the deal between IBM and Legend as IBM as a company still exists but just sold its PC division to Legend. Otherwise there would be a mixup of two different companies. After Legend bought the IBM PC division, it changed its name to Lenovo to start anew. The name Lenovo was created from Le (from Legend) and Novo (Latin for new). The first two years after the sale, Lenovo was allowed to use the IBM logo for all ThinkPads and after that period all ThinkPads must use the Lenovo brand.
