Ironic that after the trade war started, America's trade deficit to China has soared to record highs (with record Chinese surpluses against the US), while Chinese imports from America have plummeted.

What a well-planned out stable genius. :enjoy:

BEIJING (Reuters) - China’s soybean imports from the United States plunged to zero in November, marking the first time since the trade war between the world’s two largest economies started that China, the world’s largest soybean buyer, has imported no U.S. supplies.

Instead, China has leaned on Brazilian imports to replace the U.S. cargoes, customs data showed on Monday.

China brought in 5.07 million tonnes of soybeans from Brazil in November, up more than 80 percent from 2.76 million tonnes a year ago, data from the General Administration of Customs showed.

Meanwhile, U.S. imports plunged from 4.7 million tonnes in November 2017 and were down from 67,000 tonnes in October.

China, the world’s top soybean buyer, usually gets most of its oilseed imports from the United States in last quarter of the year as the U.S. harvest comes to market. The U.S. was the second-largest supplier of soybeans to China and the trade was worth $12 billion in 2017.

But, purchases have plunged since Beijing placed an additional 25 percent tariff on U.S. imports on July 6, in response to tariffs enacted by the U.S. on Chinese goods. The country has stepped up its Brazilian purchases to fill the gap.

I thought you stopped buying months ago?

Only November..you couldn't last long though

China is once again buying soybeans from the U.S. and the amount is one for the record books. The latest USDA Soybeans Export Sales Report shows China bought 1,130,000 mt of soybeans. To put that in perspective, it's the ninth largest one-day buy in a decade.

It's also the biggest soybean purchase by China in four years. It's also the biggest soybean buy of the year, so far.

I quoted Reuters and you quoted Agweb?

China's resumption of soybean purchases was based on the good faith of the US trade truce due to American losses in the trade war. But the USA immediately showed that the trade truce was not in good faith, and now their stock markets are collapsing, the worst ever Christmas eve for them, in all recorded economic history.

Interesting numbers.

China's overall trade is growing while the imports from the US is declining -- and exports are still growing.

US exports to China, on the other hand, is declining like a rock thrown into water.

I hope Trump is running the country the way he runs his casinos.

Trump 2020!

Reducing trade with the US cash cow may cause some short-term pain, but in the end it is a long-term strategic advantage.

Right now China is still getting a huge advantage from the global dollar system and the current trade system, however this cannot be sustained forever. We should look to a future where the "Donald Trump mindset" has consumed not just the Republican party but the vast majority of American citizens.

At present,The price of soybean is very cheap
btw
China has agreed to allow Bolivia to export soybeans to China

That was during November. China agreed to continue Soybean exports in December

and the stock market drops had little to do with the trade war and was mostly the result of the Government shutdown and the recent midterm elections.
