So yes, ask them to create a straightforward program, and they will do so, though it won't be the cleanest code in the world. But ask them to solve some non-trivial problem and they won't be able to do that.

The problem is that America doesn't have enough skilled domestic programmers or manpowers as per their requirement. So they hire programmers from India.

Are you sure.Independent learning and thinking is a western concept at which asians suck a big time because of our education system.The no and quality of research papers can tell you a little bit about that?

try not to get cocky, the main reason why indian programmers are hired is because they work for peanuts. American programmers are by no means inferior

I work for a Global software company with colleagues from all over the world representing all the nationalities described by the original article. This is not a body shop which hires large number of programmers. The engineering department is dominated by Americans. This is not because the percentage of smart people is higher in America. It is because of the resources available to these guys to pursue their interests and build their skills.

Indian are not genuine coders they are just required to cut-copy paste somebody else codes.In a way Indian SW engineer is like british colonial time office clerk whom british trained for keeing office files and records.New age indian sw engineers are same 21st century clerks whom usa has trained for keeping up codes.
