Move over, Mexico. When it comes to sending immigrants to the U.S., China and India have taken over.


China was the country of origin for 147,000 recent U.S. immigrants in 2013, while Mexico sent just 125,000, according to a Census Bureau study by researcher Eric Jensen and others presented Friday. India, with 129,000 immigrants, also beat Mexico, though the two countries’ results weren’t statistically different from each other.

For the study, presented at the Population Association of America conference in San Diego, researchers analyzed annual immigration data for 2000 to 2013 from the American Community Survey. The annual survey conducted by the Census Bureau asks where respondents lived the year before. Researchers counted as an ”immigrant” any foreign-born person in the U.S. who said they previously lived abroad, without asking about legal status.

A year earlier, in 2012, Mexico and China had been basically tied for top-sending country—with Mexico at 125,000 and China at 124,000.

It’s not just China and India. Several of the top immigrant-sending countries in 2013 were from Asia, including South Korea, the Philippines and Japan.

Indians make a far better immigrants than Mexicans Low on crime, law abiding (except for sneaking into the US ), educated and hard working.

US should be happy that its Indians who sneak in and not anybody else

true, they shouldn't have anything much to complain, Indians don't/cant jump the fence and live on welfare paid for by hard working regular Americans. The Indian diaspora there is amongst the hardest working/best educated, are well off and are good skilled workers.

I guess this applies to the Chinese as well.

Mexicans have well developed criminal tendencies. Indians OTOH keep their head down and are largely law abiding. Same being true for Chinese too.

But over all US is a VERY unsafe country to live, sometimes I wonder why people take all the trouble to emigrate there.

simple.. a better life, crime stats mean nothing, reality is everything.. they live much better lives in the west.

I am not sure they do. Crime stats IS a reality. Its not something that happen to other people.

I'm not falling for this recent race baiting media frenzy in the US, crime stats aside, overall it's still much better for regular people there than in India/China etc

It doesn't matter, most white Americans would rather take the white looking Mexicans over you hardworking Indians or Chinese.

The people of the Asian background are almost impossible to truly integrate into the American society.

Well i agree with you that bias exists, but Hispanics are also not liked much, since they are in news all the time,That could be because they are Neighbours,while we are legal migrants and most of them are for the short run to make a quick buck and return to their homeland.Since there are lot of new opportunities here back in Bharat and i guess its the same for Chinese returning back to their homeland China. It is a short trade off, Bharatiyas will learn all their skills, education, knowledge and then return back.If not them, then their children will.

not true, 'Islam' has a bit of a bad rep there but they still have huge Indian/Chinese/Pakistani communities.. hard working good folk just looking for a nicer life for themselves and their kids.

Hate their foreign policy and all the fake wars etc but they are a much advanced society, both economically and culturally compared to India/south asia for sure.. not sure about the Chinese but I'm guessing it's the same for you guys as well.

The Chinese or Indians are likely the ones who return to their homeland and marry the women from their homeland.

While the Hispanics are the ones who want to permanently settle down in the US, and they also have a high tendency to pursue the white women, unlike the Indian men or Chinese men.

It is true that the white Americans of the WASP background don't like them that much, but other white Americans with the Latin/Catholic background are most likely embracing them than vice versa.

they have a Señor lungi problem there .. mexican and other south american unskilled moochers leeching of the system and they get to vote for the socialists while the law and order situation goes to hell.

I don't think they are culturally advanced, and most people would rather return their homeland after they have earned enough bucks.
