From my own experience, regular HK proletarian toiling in seven elevens can't give a bigger f**k about HK politics. They are by far the most apolitical layer of society there, and so are the superrich who just bought Canadian passports and went for retirement there.

Rich try to resist changes that will hurt their pocket. This riot they support will bring down property prices which hurt them. But they have no choices since CPC will also come in and decentralise their wealth to make HK more equal. The HK elite are willing to gamble it to fight with CPC but they will seek their doom soon. Trust me.

Both Paul2 and Beast are right, since there are different kind of participants and their different agenda. The BT are not only restricted to well educated middle class, but all kind of social status and people.
