Hello
I know there are quite a few doctors and possibly psychiatrists around here so thought why not create a thread to seek professional advice
Since last 1 year I have been having nightmares almost every night and often 1-4 times per night... The sleep has been so disturbed and I literally am so fed up that I really want to find a solution to this problem
The problem begin after the death of my father almost 1 year ago but I strongly believe it is not due to that as I am usually not thinking about him and even if I am in very good mood, I would often wake up each night because of the nightmare and then try to sleep again (usually sleep quickly within 2-5 minutes) and then ready to watch next episode of nightmares
Its like I have seen hundreds of nightmare since past 1 year if not thousands
What to do really?
I once did go to the doctor but she didn't take it that seriously... didn't feel like going again as I am seriously thinking to change my GP since past many years![]()

i usually have my last meal around 7-8pm in this weather and sleeps around 11pm to 2am depending on the day and moodIndigestion also causes nightmares. Try not sleep immediately after a heavy meal.

Well I wake up between 7am to 8am as I have to leave for work before 9AMWhen do you wake up? Sleep deprivation is a major cause of nightmares. Stress too, and even If you don't feel stressed that doesn't mean you aren't. Your body will react to stress even if you feel fine or content.
Try some relaxation exercises before going to bed. Stretching, deep breathing, muscle relaxing (clench and hold each muscle for three seconds before releasing, you'll feel yourself "sink" into your bed if laying down as your muscles relax).
Yoga's not a bad option since it combines stretching with relaxation.

High sugar foods can also be a contributor to nightmares, so if you're eating sweet things before bed, stop.
....
Techniques learned and recommended from professional (military medic trained and certified to respond to trauma, shock and extreme stress - and still am.) and personal (uh, pregnancy anyone?) experience.
It's definitely not a permanent solution. While sugar will cause you to crash if consumed in large enough quantities, it does not help with one getting a good night's sleep.
Once in a while it might help if you're feeling stressed and having a hard time sleeping, but once you've fallen asleep its a risk to cause nightmares.
Though I do have to confess that I love anythig that is sweet and even have a chocolate or two almist each day but I guess I don't eat too much sugar after evening. I will reduce my habit of eating sweets abd see if it helpsIt's definitely not a permanent solution. You say don't eat salt2- Blood pressure rises abnormally due to salty food at night nightmares are a way for body to send signals to you

Yoi need to read this:

.Yes I know..WebMD... where no matter what illness or disorder you have, it's always cancer.
WebMD is ok for a rough outline, but it's generally pretty terrible.
