As I interpret it, Hindustan is composed of militant Hindutva (BJP and its affiliates), political Hindutva (Congress) and then a tiny minority of actual genuine moderates/secularists/democrats or whatever you wish to call them. It is only this tiny group - of which arundhati Roy is one - that doesn't suffer relentlessly from and is guided in every conscious decision by the burden of Mughal rule in Hindustan.
