Bus Accident Kills 32 People In Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan 23, 2011 (AFP) -A road accident early Sunday killed at least 32 people including women and children when a bus collided with an oil tanker in southern Pakistan, creating a blazing inferno, police said.

The bus carrying 45 passengers hit the oil tanker on a superhighway near Jamshoro district in Southern Sindh province, according to police, resulting in a fire that burned most of the passengers to death.

"The driver lost control of the bus and hit an oil tanker from the back side. 32 people have been killed and several others injured," senior police official Mohammad Farooq told reporters at the scene.

"There are women and children among the dead. Some dead bodies are beyond recognition," he said.

Ten more people who were injured were taken to a local hospital, he added.

Pakistan has one of the world's worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.

Innahi wa inna ilahi rajioon
The driver must probably have been sleepy and due to lack of rest and excessive hours of driving, this incident took place.
So strange, but common now, people do anything for a single ruppee now.
He must have been working over time.

Sad new, espicially the last line. If the traffic police doesnt want to work, fine!
Tell the government departments, to stop Public security services and save the money, and allow a NGO to do that too. Atleast much more motivated policemen would be there, even if not dedicated.

Pakistan homes one of the worst policemen, having no knowledge of their duty, and expect salary?

Sad news. Yet some more casualties of the recession.

Life gets harder for the less privileged in Pakistan.

Most of these bus drivers are not only illeterate but also got their lisences by giving bribes to traffic police.

If you ever travel in interior sindh, infact roads are not that bad, its always been the driver who is in the utmost hurry and that is also because of the under the influence of bhang ( a local drink). So unfortunate.

Or he was drunk:disagree:
