Dont know where to ask this question; so here it goes...
Why the conventional flat bullets are succeeded by Rebated Boattail Base??
Doesnt in the former case a uniform pressure be exerted across a flat base to effectively push the bullet out of muzzle with precise orientation??

To put into simple terms, the main advantage Rebated Bait bullets have over flat base bullets is the air flow over the Rebated Boat Tail base is less turbulent than that of the flat base design. But theres more than one advantage they have over flat bullets.

The tapered section of the Boat Tail bullet has more surface area than the flat base of the boat tail, and, the Rebated Boat Tail forms a much tighter seal at its base and seals the bore tightly. Or, well, its just a better bullet aerodynamically and accurately.

Hope that answears your question.

Here's my favorite bullet design :

Royal Enfield Classic 500.

Sorry for OT ;)
Thats a pretty looking thing. I've got an old Triumph Bonneville with clip on racing handle bars, goes like a bullet too, for its age.

While we're on the subject of bullets. My personal favourite and of which is the finest bullet ever produced IMO, is the Lapua .338. Give me that to any other bullet in the world.
