BSF building wall violating border rules
Our Correspondent
Brahmanbaria

Indian Border Security Force is constructing a wall close to the border line in Senarbadi village of the district's Akhaura to protect a road they built there illegally.

About a year ago, BSF started constructing the 1,060 metre road from pillar 2305/S to 2401/S, according to Sarail 12 Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh.

Now the Indian paramilitary force is building the wall in clear violation of the international law that allows no structure within 150 yards of the zero line.

Earlier, as BGB protested the wall construction, the Indian side said they would stop piling of earth. But the work continued in the dark of night.

Several flag meetings were held on the issue.

In one of the meetings, the Indian force assured BGB of not using this road. But for the last few days, Indian tractors loaded with bricks, cement bags are driving along the dirt road to border pillar 2024.

The Indian authorities are gathering construction materials close to the zero line and even inside Bangladesh territory. They are digging deep the ground and making big holes to construct the 2-3 feet high wall up to the level of the road. A few border pillars have sunk into earth.

One BGB official seeking anonymity has said the Indian side may have an ill-motive to construct a boundary wall.

BGB office sources have said the high officials of both countries have agreed that retaining wall could be built within 16 feet of zero line to protect a boundary pillar that falls in any water body.

Contacted, Lieutenant Colonel Mustafizur Rahman, commanding officer of Sarail 12 battalion, said they earlier had sent BSF a message requesting not to erect any boundary wall there and held a battalion commander level meeting on December 21. In the meeting, the BSF agreed that they would not erect any wall above the ground level.

BGB is always watching if BSF violates any treaty or border rules, the CO added.

ist it good for both our nations. it wil help stop illegal border crossings and bangladeshi death caused by BSF shooting.

Bangladesh border killing does not happen cause of illegal crossing rather it happen while returning to Bangladesh with cow when they do not provide the amount to the BSF what they demand. Each year more then 1.5 million Indian cows are brought to Bangladesh illegally. How do you think it is possible if BSF do not let it in when already there is border fence right now??? The number of people killed is quite negligible compared to the number of people those who are involved. Suppose 1000 people got killed and each was bringing 10 cows with them which is unlikely and it means only people related to 10000 cows got killed which is even less then 1% of the amount of cow which is brought to Bangladesh from India illegally after giving bribe to the BSF. But this trigger happy BSF kills this trader when they try to bypass them or not want to give them the amount what they demanded and loot the cows with them which BSF resell again. This cow trade is already a billion dollar business.

Its a freaking retaining wall for God sake!

Real smart officials you guys have there, who don't know the difference between retaining wall and an "ill motive" boundary wall. Good he is anonymous, I would have personally shot him dead for being so stupid otherwise.

India should build a 30 feet high wall along our border whole border (Not limited to Bangladesh but to pak, chin, nepal the whole border) and it will solve most of the problems like immigration, smuggling, terrorist infelteration, drug smuggling, weapons smuggling, fake currency circulation etc. etc.

Bangladesh will also be at peace as there will be no illegal immigrants/smugglers who get shot by BSF.

Cow price is 3 to 4 times higher in Bangladesh then that of India and an easy way to earn some quick money... you know there is always a huge demand of mouth watering beef in bangladesh. Even though cattle trader need to give a big chunk of the profit to the BSF for bringing cow to Bangladesh from India via Indian middle man.

mouth watering beef..ch ch ch..its disgusting. i have tasted it once in life by mistake and spit it away as soon as i found it wast mutton.

Just a retaining wall to protect the road from mud slide. As the BSF officials assured that it will be a retaining wall, what the fuss??

Enjoy mouth watering beef or bullet in your ***.choice is your's. Don't cry foul here.BSF has every right to shoot anyone who illegally comes to our part of the border.

India is violating border agreement, Bangladesh has every right not letting ant structure 150 feet of zero line. India can build anything they what behind 150 feet from the border. Indians do not have ant credibility and up for grabbing neighbors land.

Why don't you ask the lazy BGB to do some work in stud of just blaming the BSF, if the BGB don't allow this guys to come inside the Indian border may be the BSF will not get a bribe nor do they have to shoot the poor bagladeshi's. :hitwall:
