For those keeping score of the year’s second-biggest global grosser, Walt Disney’s The Lion King has officially become the seventh film to earn over $1.6 billion worldwide. No, that is not accounting for inflation (The Avengers’ $1.519 billion cume in 2012 would be, give or take China’s increased footprint, nearly $1.7 billion in adjusted grosses), but it is still a heck of a milestone. It is the seventh-biggest global grosser of all time, the seventh-biggest overseas earner and the 13th biggest domestic earner ever in raw earnings. Of all nine films that have earned over $1 billion overseas, The Lion King made the least in China.

Groan remakes....Hollywood really need to drink some creativity juice. It's upsetting seeing the greatest entertainment industry the world has ever seen just rehashing stuff.
