The soldier in this video always says how hard the life is there and how big a sacrifice they did for other people, but judging from the the food they eat, the facilities they post and live, the vehicles they use, it's not really that bad.

Actually, the folks on our common border have it pretty peaceful and calm; no combat; no stress.

Being ready is fine enough; but both know that there isn't anything going to happen.

What's more; they get to live in one of the most beautiful outposts on earth.

But believe me, there is something VERY dark, and foreboding and sinister about the black mountain range on the Chinese side that one views from Nathu La.

I wonder if any Indian here has experienced the same?

Well, serving at way out posts had itsups & downs.

On the Up side is a sense of freedom - from the hum drum of ' routine' activities , being away from the HQ. Being the Boss of what you survey , troop sports, team building & camaraderie & so much more.

On the down side is not having anyone ( another Officer) to talk to ,bad weather was depressing especially in air maintained posts , delay in mails ( we did not have the luxury of social media etc ).

Nathu La is a good location to be , the views across Chumbi valley all the way to Bhutan are great . Tourist presence makes it quite pleasant . All in all , among the better locations to be.

Indians living at the border with China should be VERY GRATEFUL to China for providing Radio and Phone Networks.
They can relieve their boredom listening to Chinese broadcasts and communicate with fellow Indians.
