Boeing Seeks to Help Develop India Fighter, Equip Space Missions

Boeing to Cooperate with India in Composite Cryogenic Tanks

Boeing is keen to partner with India on manned space missions, including on the significant "composite cryogenic tanks" for the launch and propulsion control of rockets. According to Vivek Lall, Boeing's Defence, Space and Security vice president in India, the company had an established and leading role in US space missions, including in the space shuttle programme, and that with the experience built over decades, "we believe we can provide value-added assistance to India's space programme".

He apprised that “At the moment, we have indicated the intent to cooperate. It is up to ISRO now to tell us what it wants, and we will do our best. He added "Boeing has submitted a formal request to the US Department of State to enable us to proceed down this path should our services be accepted. Our initial discussions focus on ISROs requirements for the future."

Composite cryogenic tanks, which are made of high-strength fibers embedded in a resin matrix-like epoxy, are up to 30 percent lighter than aluminum containers and suffer less wear and tear. Boeing is using these space-age composites on new aircraft like its 787 Dreamliner passenger jet and the tilt-rotor V 22 aircraft, satellites, missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Those 2 are the problems...
The main part is the sensitive info of AMCA can be exploited by US...

To assume the above in the current and future scenario is simply non realistic. We are definitely not going the Gripen way and we will be integrating "Indian" components with the expertise from US.

We have already decided on most components which will be there in the future jet. The help mostly will be in the integration and maybe the knowhow of stealth technologies.

We dont need to be that much phobic on everything like others and repeat America is evil all the time.

Times are changing so does priorities and relationships.

So there is no news on what Boeing is offering in AMCA. Man, these newspaper just need to something to write. All this was told by Boeing in Aero India, and i can see a newspaper article in every couple of days on this with a different heading.

Why can't americans be on their own..
Why seek to help....??????????????????
We'll do it on our own, well take our own time....
Please stay away boeing...
We know ur tactics, first u reject, when we at last stages of completion of the project u'll come and offer us the old dated tech....
or propose for JV and finally ull claim the credits...
Ur tactics SUCK..
MoD please reject this.....
We don't have the tech to develop a fifth gen fighter. We are nowhere in AMCA project. Everything that ADA is saying depends on what we learn and how well we grasp from AMCA project.

But the biggest concern is Russia. This deal might be a way the US is trying to get hold of Russian 5th gen tech. We have to make sure that it does not reach US because it would annoy Russia and will effect FGFA project.

Does it means putting US systems which are sanction prone into the project?

Does the help means intellectual property is transferred to Boeing or US?

Does it mean we will have to ask US if we need to sell the fighter to a 3rd nation?
I think we have to understand that ball is in our court. We can design the agreement on our terms so that we could gain from the knowledge of Boeing and at the same time ensure Russia that their secret tech is safe with us. After all Boeing is a private company and it will benefit from the sales of AMCA. If US government does not agreed to our terms on this deal, we can always scrap the deal.

But i think AMCA JV with US companies is not possible because there is danger of US getting hold of Russian secret 5th gen techs. Russia knows this, US knows this and this will definitely complicate FGFA project. Russia will not let us do this JV and even if they will do this, Russia will make sure that we don't get the critical technologies used in FGFA.

Yes!! I hope USA helps India with its first 5 generation effort!

US is trying to get hold of Russian 5th gen tech.

I dont think US really cares, Russia today isnt USSR. They are not enemies any more.

Doubt Russia has anything USA doesnt. You would think the opposite nations like Russia and China are trying to get hold of America's tech..
