Boeing announced that multiple orders for the 777 family have pushed the airplane program over 2,000 orders, becoming the first widebody airplane to do so and extending its status as the best-selling widebody jet of all time.

In December, BOC Aviation and unidentified customers placed 17 net orders for 777 airplanes, bringing the total to 51 for 2018 and 2,013 since the program launched. The total includes popular models such as the 777-300ER (Extended Range) passenger jet, the long-range 777 Freighter, and the soon-to-roll out 777X.

The Middle East is a key region for the 777 with Emirates Airline being the world’s largest operator with 165 of the aircraft currently in its fleet. In addition, the airline is also the largest customer for the 777X with 150 on order. Other key customers of the 777 include Etihad Airways, Saudi Arabian Airlines and Kuwait Airways.

"The 777 continues to delight passengers around the world while creating profitable growth for our customers that is translating to strong demand for the airplane,” said Ihssane Mounir, senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing, The Boeing Company. "The staying power of the current 777 is providing a good transition to the new 777X, which will further extend the 777’s performance, economics and range capability.”

“With a large widebody replacement wave approaching, the 777 is well-positioned to build on its long-haul market leadership and support further global network connectivity,” said Mounir.

Yet Boeing barely breaks even. This is the weakness of capitalism. No matter how well you do, you only break even. Sooner or later, economy crashes and chaos follows causing huge wars.

Boeing is Chinese technology. Good to see Chinese technology dominate the world.

LOL! Are you Indian or something claiming credit for everything?
The guy worked at Boeing for less than 2 years back in 1916 doing wind tunnel tests at MIT for a propeller driven seaplane. Suddenly he is the tech lead behind the 777.

It was the US Army Corps of Engineers who scoped out the site for your 3 Gorges Dam (yes, the US Military was waltzing around your countrysides looking at how to fix your country). You should thank the US Military for building it and every other one in China.

Yet Boeing barely breaks even.

They had a Net Income of $8.19 Billion in 2017 (2018 not released yet)

A product class apart with almost zero competition by any margin. The product remains as a leading option for long-haul, dense passenger configuration market; particularly the 8+ hours segment. the 777X will actually become a major player as point-to-point becomes a more realistic market, especially for origin-destination markets such as India, Indonesia and Vietnam where local businesses, improving wealth and increasingly prosperous demographics will benefit Boeing.

China will more likely reduce dependence on Boeing as they bring in the Comac C929 jet along with the Russians in the next 5 years; which would be a significant market loss for Boeing in the next 15 years. However, given that there are more and more countries coming out of abject poverty, travel will increase.

Load of bull!!!!!!! Boeing 777 is 100% American design. I was involved with 777 program back in 90s. That being said, Mitsubishi in Japan did do some modelling for Boeing using CATIA, but the design was Boeing's. No one beats Boeing engineers in aircraft designing. Rest are only copy cats.

So? And Americans came from all over the world. America is not an ethnic based country.

If it wasn't for Wong Tsu's help, Americans would never be able to design aircraft. They are simply too simple minded.

Boeing is German. Germans made first jet plane Me 262.

Should start buying Boeing shares then. More fun would be if F-18SH gets the Indian Navy tender.

Super Hornet is too big for India carriers. Rafale M is smaller. A much better choice.

Powered flight was invented by Americans well before Boeing. Boeing was a latecomer.

How come China didn't figure it out first? You had plenty of time. You were probably all excited about seeing a Western chained bicycle or a cigarette lighter nevermind an airplane or car.
