There is no independent inherent trust in Bangladesh Election commission, vote rigging and ballot box stuffing is the norm in BD without neutral caretaker govt. Hasina just took the opportunity and struck first in ensuring one-party rule.

Yes, you are right about vote stuffing without a trustworthy caretaker government. But, the opposition is not as strong as the BAL/BCL Crusaders in the streets. I think the opposition parties should participate in the election. They should, however, boycott the polls on the day of election if there are many cases of vote rigging throughout the country. However, I suspect that BAL has already reached a kind of agreement with Ershad's party and Bikalpadhara on seat sharing.

I fear the govt will force the mobile operator companies to weaken their system so that people/leaders cannot communicate with each other on the election day.

It would be highly, highly immature for BNP to boycott elections at this point, and Awami league has absolutely nothing to lose and BNP has everything to lose.

Yes, this is the core point. BNP should face the electorate now and then change its leadership after the election. However, I wonder if the EC will allow the continuation of BNP as a political party when its top leaders are a convict in different cases.

There is a possibility that EC will withdraw its registration of BNP even before the election. However, BNP candidates may bypass it by getting the nomination from the Oikkyofront directly.

Boycott like last time. BNP has nothing to lose at this point. There is no good reason to give Hasina legitimacy. I would rather see Hasina die as illegitimate PM.

In my opinion she was right not to participate in 2014. BNP would have lose regardless and Hasina would not be illegitimate PM of illegal Awami regime.

Khaleda Zia has one short coming. She is not cunning and snakish like dalal Hasina.

I think BNP will win some things if they contest, they will at least have a voice in parliament.

There is no shame, lajja, golami, tyranny or last word in politics.

EVERYTHING is negotiable.

Ekhon aula lagailey EVERYONE will lose, and it will be very selfish and self-serving of BNP to do this. Only outsiders who don't want to see the rise of Bangladesh win then. Need to keep our eyes on the ball.

Continuity and stability at the expense of everything else. We can plan sharing the spoils later....

You contest the election, get into parliament and negotiate, that sane voice resonates with the populace - and you get more credibility, which was already lost Thanks to Khaleda's (and her sons' activities), which are indefensible.

I am not defending Hasina, I am saying that OikyaJote needs to have a strategy to prevent a one-party Hasina dictatorship.

Kamal Hossain (still living) and Mirza Fakhrul are the only credible and smart opposition personalities left in BNP which is in shambles, let's face it. They have done right to give some quarter to win some...

I am truly upset. If she will be the next leader of BNP then what is the point? Still it's a member of the same family.
And also jugantor published the news from anand bazaar of Calcutta ,lol.( এখন আবার হেড লাইন এডিট করে লিখে দিয়েছে যে এটা আনন্দ বাজারের প্রতিবেদন)
Look how poor our news papers that they need to collect news from other countries.
They can't even check that if really something is happening or not .
But if the news is true, then it's bad sign.
