We support the idea of West Bengal and Assam joining Bangladesh. As it is they are on their way to becoming Muslim majority states anyway. Assam is approaching 35% Muslim whereas W. Where you have seen BD in my comment...if it happens it will happen by the people of NE India themselves... Later if they want to remain as separate state or want to join bangladesh it will be up to them... But due to higher birth and growth rate bengali people will be majority in assam within nect couple of year... even now around 35% of the people of assam are Muslim.. and 40-45% are bengalis... n other ne states has a very tiny population... everything will depend what the bengali people of assam want... the way they are discriminated and tortured it is likely that they will want to join with Bangladesh as after all most of their ancestors are from present bangladesh when british took them over there for cultivation... n tripura also wanted to join BD in 1947... so if they want to join we can handle the reminder by giving arunachal pradesh to china... just rest in peace... n I guess you have already seen if the population of a region want to collectively what they can do.

- all of Kashmir was given to Pakistan. Kashmir + india does not sound fitting. After all, that's the whole point of partition - muslim majority states do not belong to "Hindustan". And Kashmir had an overwhelming muslim presence, more so than the half-sikh, half-muslim Punjab.

Let's not start Kashmir on this. And how is it OVERWHELMING MUSLIM MAJORITY?? Even today Muslim population accounts for only 65% of total population even after ethnic cleansing of Hindu Pandits from Kashmir valley. At the time of partition it was merely 60% Muslim population. and 35%Hindus and 5% Sikhs Buddhists. Plus out of those 60% don't you think more than half of them would have wanted to stay with India? As it was seen throughout India during the partition?

I'd love to know where you got that "98%" figure from. There are indigenous peoples there. Take a visit to the CHT if you don't believe. Especially Rangamati.

I am not talking about now but the time just when all the states were deciding to join either us or Pakistanis.

I went to Rangamati some months back for vacation. We sailed right under an underwater palace. The place is beautiful with an interesting history. And sadly, I feel that their indigenous culture, heritage and history are increasingly being thrown into oblivion in Bangladesh.

Very few honest and genuine people feel that way, mate. Very few. Especially when you've got some examples here of the kind you know what I mean.

Seeing how things went about since 1971, Bengali nationalism didn't go well for some. Yes, even for non-Bengali Muslims.

But other than those, they live off pretty well in Bangladesh, and generally well-learned. But then, there are issues for which I really wish they were resolved permanently. Bangladeshi politicians are hardly committed to anything other than money.

You think our politicians are all Netanyahus and Golda Meirs? Congress is a thousand times more corrupt than Zardari, Gilani, and entire political parties of Bangladesh combined. Yet the reason why whatever progress is being made here is because of the common man's killing hard work and dedication. There has been an unfortunate drop in the Buddhist population as well as mainstream Hindu population from the existing amounts post-independence itself and that is what has been the point of my throwing in that line. There are more than one examples even if the common Bagngladeshi citizen is not radical.
