Behind 'Rising India' lies the surrender of national dignity

States are not being left behind. These is development in each and every state. Only difference is some states got a head start on others. India is better than it was 10 years ago, and will be even more better 10 years from now.

I hope India does well, its trying its best to be a good secular democracy. While there still needs to be a lot of work done & its far from perfect, they're moving in the right direction I guess, & the effort on their part is commendable. Pakistan is trying its best as well, has fared admirably during tough times, & it will be a good day when Pakistan & India can solve all their outstanding issues amicably.

I hope you are right. As you probably know my background, I come from parts of Bihar & present day Jharkhand (Ranchi); & I have extended family in UP as well. I really hope thosethree states prosper well & quickly, I really have great love & affection for them. I really hope that India develops evenly, because in the past; India has been developing (for the most part) only in their Western states (Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra) & Southern States (Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, parts of Karnataka & Tamil Nadu). However, the 'heart'/middle & eastern states of India has always been deprived historically, & I hope the changes come soon. I've visited Bihar & UP in 2002, & it was not a pretty sight. Going from Patna/Khujwa to New Delhi (I went to New Delhi in 2005) is like going to a completely different country.

Left behind is a relative expression. Southern & Western states were always governed better so it only follows that they were the first movers in the changed economic situation. There is freedom of movement in India, therefore either the states doing relatively poorly get their act together or people will simply move to where opportunities present themselves. That is how it works anywhere in the world which is why so many South Asians are found all over the world.
Having said that, one of the best examples of improved growth in the last few years has been a chronic laggard; the state of Bihar. It is this that will eventually prove all the naysayers wrong and will almost certainly augur well for a period of high growth in India.

Thing to note here along with your comment is that some of the so called left behind states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Orissa are clocking double digit growth figures and all have been blessed with good and proactive governance. There are tremendous potential waiting to be exploited in these states and they will continue to flourish as long as the governance plays along.

People have woken up to the change and feeling it on the ground. This will ensure they vote in the incumbent party as long as they feel their states are on the right track. Give them another decade and you will see their contribution to the national GDP figures.

Well it is good that India has unleashed it wrath and all the misgovernance is in the open.

Observing some of the comments in the posts, I am constrained to wonder the undermentioned.

Does that mean the neighbourhood is beyond misgovernance or corrupt practices? Or bold enough to shake their govt by the roots?

If they have no misgovernance or corruption and are ideal, then it is indeed most laudable.

They should have then by now surpassed India and others in the world in all aspects and should have become leading lights!!
