Both are Russian. The first one is way passed its retired age. It'd the aircraft carrier equivalent of mig 21.

Viraat is the former HMS Hermes. After retirement, they offered it to Australia who refused to take it. Then they sold it to India.

It was Sold to India after 25 years in operation with Royal Navy it it will complete 30 years in India Navy 2016 when it will be retired , Average age of Aircraft carriers are 50 years .

No Dear ...INS Viraat is British origin AC....and INS Vikramaditya is Russian origin AC.

That for the correction. It's older than I thoughtp as this ac was near retirement age in 1982. It's more than 30 years since its retirement.

The difference in sizes of Viraat and Vikramaditya is quite apparent even with Vikramaditya in background.
