I found a very interesting documentary about the life of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) on YouTube and watched the entire 3 hour video yesterday. These days the Political/Militant/Violent Islam is often explained through the prism of the life of its Prophet. This video, while not overtly critical of the Prophet/Islam, does try to present 'the other side', especially from the Jewish scholars. I had studied 'Islamiat' through my university years in Pakistan but I have to say that this single video has been far more revealing about the political/economic/social aspects of the early days of Islam.

The video tries to answer many questions about Islam and its Prophet. It deserves its place in the World Forum because of the contemporary Islamic world and concerns about/for that world.

Understanding life off HAZRAT MUHAMMAD SAW through BBC is really nice joke

The Prophet himself is quoted: 'Seek knowledge even if you have to go as far as China'. This documentary is generally pro-Islam--may be the fear of backlash--but is really good in explaining the 'context' of various events in the life of the Prophet; de-contextualizing the life and events of early Islam is the main weapon in the hands of both the Islamist militants like AQ, TTP and ISIS and in the hands of some non-Islamic forces who love to start a real Clash of Civilization.

I am a 'humanist' and I think this video comes closest to my worldview in which there is no such clash--a clash where there will be no winners.

I'll try to post a summary of this video later; at first I was not 100% into this video, almost willing to dismiss it as just another video. So a re-watch is probably needed by me.
