Bangladesh will officially mourn Saudi Arabia's late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz on Saturday.
President Md Abdul Hamid will fly to Riyadh on the same day to offer state condolences, Cabinet Secretary Md Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said on Friday.
The national flag will fly at half-mast at government, semi-government and private offices and educational institutions during the state mourning.
Special prayers will be held for the late king but offices and educational institutions will function normally, Bhuiyan added.
King Abdullah, 90, who ruled the world's biggest crude oil exporter for nearly a decade, died early on Friday, said an official announcement. He had been hospitalised since Dec 31 with lung infection.
Abdullah, who became the king in 2005 following the death of his half-brother King Fahd, had suffered frequent bouts of ill health in recent years.
After his death, Abdullah's half-brother Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, 79, has ascended to the throne.
President Hamid, in a message, expressed his “deepest condolences” at his death.
“It is, indeed, an irreparable loss for the Royal family, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Muslim Ummah and the whole world,” he said.
He recalled the “graciousness” of King Abdullah towards Bangladesh and its workers in the kingdom.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a separate condolence message said Bangladesh had lost “one of her great caring brothers and generous well-wishers”.
