10,000 km at $520 mn, that's an average allocation of $52,000/km. How much does it typically cost to dredge?

Sir, please read posts #9 and #13, some idiot claimed there that by the govt estimation the cost of dredging 1 m3 of soil is only Taka5.0.Where are you seeing this? Please provide link, thanks.
Tell me what are the second steps when the first step says an Earthwork at Taka5.00 per m3? It is another of BAL hoax to please some people.
I am not questioning your ability to understand math. However, many BAL people learn from very strange math texts that even Newton or Jadab did not know about.
A dredging is not just a line. It is the volume of soil/earth that has to be removed. So, $52,000 figure is not valid.
For example, the volume of a km stretch of dredging may be 1000m length x 3,000m width x 3m depth, making the volume 9,000,000 m3. It is certainly not possible to dredge by $0.006 (Taka5.0) per m3 or $0.006 per meter of length.
In the case of all these fictitious projects, the govt people say something that is just not true. It is Bangladesh or Hasina style to talk but not work. May be Hasina wants to see the reactions in different Forums like PDF.
Your numbers are wrong. How many rivers in BD are 3km wide???
And you have used this figure in a blanket way. Some of these 178 rivers will be 50m wide while others may be bigger or smaller.
You can't just multiply random numbers to make a point.
If the govt has announced it, then it is in the public domain for scrutiny. There are plenty of genuine experts in BD, let's wait for them to raise this point if its true
OK. Now please give me the cost of 1 m3 Earthwork per meter of length if the river width is only 30m instead of 3,000m.Your numbers are wrong. How many rivers in BD are 3km wide???

I suppose a per m3 cost has been arrived at as an average of estimations by rivers and also taking into consideration savings from economies of scale i suppose.
However is 5tk too cheap i really do not know.
OK. Now please give me the cost of 1 m3 Earthwork per meter of length if the river width is only 30m instead of 3,000m.
But, can some contractor will do this Earthwork @Taka500 per m3 for a 30m wide dredging? It is not possible even if the width is only 3m instead of 30m or 3000m. However, our talented BD govt guys are claiming to do the work at that much of small money.
Am I that wrong to say this news is another usual weekly BAL hoax?

The government of Bangladesh has launched a mega scheme to dredge 10,000 kilometres of riverways in the country to improve inland river navigability.
Above are the two paragraphs from the news at the top. Where did I say wrong based on this news? Read it is 10,000 km and Taka 4371 crore. The dredging work is being carried out by the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) at a cost of Taka 4371 crore. The project is scheduled to be completed by June 2024.
Yes, after reading the account above I think it may not be a hoax as usual. But, still I do not understand the technical aspect of this project. Dredging must be accompanied by also building levies or dikes or embankments and sluice gates. I do not find any such elements.Mega plan taken up to dredge 178 rivers
