China refused to offer after sales support for Ukrainian engines as those were re-exported to BD without permission from Ukraine. Really pissed BA off.

The threat assessment comes from any nation's need to be prepared for any eventualities, regardless of the fact the neighbor is a friend. So our defense acquisitions are purely for defensive purposes should there be such an eventuality. It's not for allying with anybody to teach somebody a lesson when we have zero interest in doing so. Why would BD make India an enemy when there is no enmity in terms of military threats? I understand they are your arch nemesis but that's between you and them, we have nothing to do with it.

Did I say anything about targetting Calcutta? It was Kolkata port which is not the same thing and ports are a legitimate target in war.

BD is not a country of savages that would ever intentionally target any civilian populations in war time.

All I meant is that finally BD has a proper deterrent against India and my comment was aimed at some Indians, admittedly mainly in the past and even some BD'shis, who believe that BD needs Indian "permission" to buy weapons.

It’s not about blind trust. Bd was the incompetent buyer, they went to ukraine first for t80 tanks and then chose to get mbt 2000 without spares agreement with China… who thought that was a wise idea?

Well, blind trust stems from incompetence. I know military and civilian bureaucrats personally, visited their offices and witnessed first hand how incompetent they are.
The culture of due dilligence does not exist in BD.
