Bangladesh protest against women's rights left one dead

A student at an Islamic school in Bangladesh has been shot dead and at least 30 others injured during a demonstration against women's rights.

The protesters were marching through the south-western town of Jessore against moves by the government to ensure equal property rights for women. A protest leader said the student was shot by police, but police denied this, saying some protesters were also armed. Under Bangladeshi law, a woman normally inherits half as much as her brother. The rally was called to draw support for a nationwide strike on Monday.

Bangladesh, which is 90% Muslim, has a secular legal system, but in matters relating to inheritance follows Sharia law. Under the new rules, every child would inherit the same amount. Women's groups have long called for a change. In Dhaka, the capital, hundreds of women, took to the streets to denounce those opposing the policy.
"We support the policy framed to empower the women, which is fully consistent with what Islam taught us," said Ayesha Khanom, president of the Women Society.

What amazes me is how these people manage to face their mothers and sisters once they get home. Conversation at the dinner table would be like, "Mother: So how was your day son", "Son: Oh great mum just went to protest against equal rights for women", "Mother: Oh cool son, here have some more Haleem" . Pathetic, I would shoot each one of them if it was up to me.

Listen ... do not need to lecture here... in hinduism woman has no right on property ... so also in judeo christian or bible if any one has boy....n this issue was declared long ago.. but this western media is adding some spice on it...

Islam is the only religion that protected right on property from wife to daughter... The provision for boy will get 2 time more property then daughter has been justified for the following reasons...

1. Boy will have all responsibility of the family... even to take care of her younger sister if she is not married or immature... with the property share that he will get but woman or sister will not have any such liability.

2. Woman will not have to give any dowry during marriage but man will have to give it to the wife.

3. The woman that property will inherit ... she is not liable to spend it to the family... if she want she can do it but no one can force her... But every man is 100% responsible to spend all the expenses of the family.

4. Woman also inherit property from the husband other then dowry if his husband dies...

By combining all one can see woman gets eventually more property if any one take in to consider the responsibility of the mans...

In islam it is said woman must respect their husband as he is the protectorate... in the mean time the status of woman has been increased by saying every children will have to respect their mom 3 times more then the father as she bore her for 10 months... the respect list is as below:

2. Mother
3. Mother
4. Father

No other backdated religion has given the rights to the woman that Islam has given... not hinduism or christianity or judaism... challenging any one who differ with me..

Women in Pakistan live far better lives than women in Bangladesh, a state born out of treason and only a step above Afghanistan. You really don't want to make a comparison here, you will be on the loosing end. As far as your assertion "no 1 terrorist and backward country in the world" clearly some of you Bangladeshis still under Hindustani influence, you are even beginning to talk like them. Pakistan is fighting terror that originated in Afghanistan and has spilled over the border. This imbroglio Pakistan is in is temporary and with better governance Pakistan will once again reassert it's power in Asia.
