Bangladesh informs UN of Myanmar’s non-cooperation

Unb, New York

Bangladesh has shared the existing problems regarding the Rohingya issue with the UN and informed it about Myanmar’s non-cooperation in initiating the repatriation.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam conveyed these to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at a bilateral meeting on the Rohingya issue and the celebration of birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in New York.

The UN chief expressed deep concern over the delay in Rohingya repatriation, Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the UN said in a statement on June 11.

Bangladesh is now hosting over 1.2 million Rohingyas who are living in camps in Cox’s Bazar. Most of them came here after Myanmar launched a brutal crackdown targeting the mainly-Muslim ethnic minority in the pretext of a “clearance operation” on August 25, 2017.

Alam briefed Guterres about the latest situation.

The repatriation was scheduled to begin in January last year but later the date was shifted to November 15. However, it is yet to happen.

Alam also informed Guterres about steps to put Myanmar’s accountability issue over Rohingya crisis before the International Court.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation recently called upon the ad hoc ministerial committee to take immediate measures to launch the case of Myanmar’s human rights violations at the International Court of Justice on behalf of OIC.

Alam requested the participation of the UN head and UN as a body in the celebration of Bangabandhu’s birth centenary and golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence.

Guterres lauded Bangladesh’s progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

This is like telling the teacher to do something about a bully in class.

What the bully will ultimately understand is your ability to kick his a##.

Please address your military capability seriously BD.

Like BAF!

Think BD is doing the right thing as this keeps the pressure up.
Yep BAF needs to be built up as that is what is holding the military up but we kind off know the reason for the delay there.

true, as a former bullied kid... complaining to teacher does jackshit, only makes them feel pity for you and you getting the increased beatings... not until you fight back do anyone give you the respect you deserve
infact... become the bully.. that's the only way you can survive in this sick world

Bullies only understand one language, a good beating.

If someone tries to push you down, break his hand, rest will get the message.

মাইরের উপরে ওষুধ নাই। লোকে কয়, ময় মুরব্বির কথা বাসি হইলে ফলে।

Good BD govt doing something yet again that makes the BD members here seethe and bitch and cry at the reality.

Feels good. There's plenty more to come.

Nope all part of the medium to long term plan to ruin the savages.

Why you care what happens to the savages anyway? Thinking of converting to Buddhism?
