Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad, a national annual competition, aims to spread passion for Mathematics across the country so that a Bangladeshi gets to win Nobel Prize in Mathematics by 2030, said Eng Prof Jamilur Reza Chowdhury.

"Most of the participants from the pervious international math Olympiads are now studying at world's renowned universities. These universities have produced most of the Nobel laureates in the world", he said.

Prof Chowdhury, chairman of Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee, believes that more Bangladeshi students would get to study at renowned universities under Nobel laureates, and someone from them is bound to win Nobel Prize in mathematics.

He was speaking at a press conference about the 52nd International Mathematics Olympiad that was launched in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on July 12.

Bangladesh is taking part in the event for the fifth time.

Six contestants from the country would represent Bangladesh at the Olympiad this year. They are Dhananjoy Biswas of Chittagong College, Kazi Hasan Zubaer of Khulna Public College, Nafiza Anjum of Sylhet Women's College, Sourav Das of Chittagong Governemnt High School, Fahim Ferdous of Mymensingh Zilla School, and Nur Muhammad Shafiullah of Monipur High School.

Maybe Prof. Jamilur quoted quantum physics
but the reporter was a mathematician.....

Damn! How could I have not known this before!

Able prize is usually considered as noble equivalent in the field of mathematics given the prize money but there are many field prizes that are equally good.
