Bangladesh army officers to get frontier training

On this point, there should be frequent training of the Ansars and VDP with the Army which will further strengthen their idea of 'national' security. They, whatever the fact is, are not burdened with meeting external threats from other countries like our Defense Force...hence i would suggest them to be given limited and controlled training and idea on how to mobilize, act and respond during a war scenario. This will not only improve their personal skills, but also their method of maintaining internal security.

They must also be made to feel that they are equally responsible for Bangladesh's security, just like an Air Marshall or a General. Its all about the feeling of a 'team-work', so that no one thinks one is better then the other. They are total of 1 million, and if they can fire a simple MANPAD along with a .303, then why not!

Cheers!!!

This is a problem in Bangladeshi culture in general. Not only in military.

International treaty prohibit us to deploy army within 15 miles of border. We still need BGB to guard our boders.

I think we can avoid this treaty in the Jointapur border at least, there has been many occasions when BDR and BSF exchanged bullets, and the area is damn risky!!

Nah, i think it will be better to modernise the BDR rather than using the army. But we can set up a army camp just outside the 15 mile zone in jointapur just in case

A small group of BGB Jawans are good enough to fight a larger Indian BSF at any given time. Army troops are not needed for a small-scale border war. Let BGB handle it as they always do.

BGB need better equipment to do their job. And I don't mean small arms :P

@ Our BGB's armament is comparatively better than BSF except that our BGB does not have artillery support.

@ On the other hand BSF have their own artillery guns. During the Pakistan's times the EPR had 6 pounder anti-tank guns but now these are abosulate and now placed as a show piece in all the BGB Wing's HQ. But it does not mean that BGB has not anti-tank weapons ! These are being replaced by American made shoulder controlled Blandisite. I am not sure but I think once the Army's 105 mm RR (Requelless Gun)was made absolute than it was given to BGB. It has a an effective range of 1000 metres against tank. BGB is having modern machine guns, 60mm and 82mm morters.

@ Infact to guard the borders heavy armaments like tanks and artillery is not needed. We can improve in communications, night vision gogles and transport system. To fight with BSF we have enough modern weapons by our BGB. We need to increase the numbers of manpower and numbers of BOP(Border Out Post). At present we have almost more than 600 BOP's through out Bangladesh. Each BOP is manned by maximum of Platoon size troops and in many places it is even manned by a Section Plus. On the other hand the Indian BSF' BOPs are manned by at least a Company size of troops. Against our one BOP, India has established atleast 3 BOPs.
