Bangladesh army deploying Russian sam system...

Why doesn't Hasina buy home-made systems like Akash? What abt modi's "make in India" policy................ :(
You never know it could happen in future. Now we have settled our differences lot of defence and economical agreements could pave the way to made in India-bangladesh joint ventures.

We could upgrade your MIG'S locally.

Could be.. Myanmar actutally does not keep record of its soldier. So they dont know how many they sent to the fornt line and how many actually returned. A lot of them do desert as well.

Seems legit. He was the same DG under whom India-Bangladesh border conflict of 2001 happened. But casualty from MM side may be exaggerated.

I've never heard of anything like that taking place. Jan 4th btw is independence day so there would have been full parades and military processions which Than Shwe would have been part of.

But hey, if there's a Wordpress article about it, it must be legit.

You're such a moron. :omghaha:

BTW do you boys remember when one of your army officers was killed by us last summer?

A few days later there were stories about how you struck back and killed four of our officers and a lot of you were celebrating like monkeys. Ofcourse, no one on our side died and the story was made up. Your kind have a habit of doing that.

That wordpress site is about another blog he has written. Its published in other news sites. I didnt provide those. Its about his duty as DG of BDR when he came to interaction with Nasaka head quarter letters. And Nasaka head quarter used to send informal and threatening messeges. Then he also replied back in harsh words. Those are written in English. After that Nasaka started to send polite and formal letters.

But his clash with Myanmar force is written in his fb wall. Just scroll down some updates.

Naf is a bordering river between Bangladesh and Myanmar. Upper Naf has about 12 branches of smoller rivers. In 1966 Pakistan and Burma concluded a treaty agreeing that non of the countries will train the Naf river or branches of rivers . With the natural shifting of defth of river the demerkation of doundry between the countries will shift. When I took over as DG BDR I was told that 28 hundred acres TOTAR DIP OF BANGLADESH has been grabed by Myanmar by shifting the depth of Naf river by building dams, groans and spars on the stewaries of main Naf river taking advantage of 1966 treaty. Suddenly Myanmar started building dam on the last branches of Naf river if completed whole TAKNAF will go into the sea. We protested but invain. Myanmar did not stop. To protect the building side Myanmar deployed two divisions Army under command of two major generals one from army and another from Navy. We positioned 2500 BDR SOLDIERS under DDG BDR and kept the command directly under me. In one night I moved 25 lac different types of ammunitions and bombs in coxesbazar. Kept half in coxesbazar and sent half to the war positions. On 1st january 2000 at about 2.30 pm I gave order for firing and war was on. It lasted for 3 days in which 600 Myanmar army soldiers were killed. The war was live tv broadcasted by Joyi Mamun and Shupon Roy. On 4th january Myanmar's president General Thansuye call all the deplomets in Rangoon telling them that Myanmar wants no war with Bangladesh. Cease fire was effected and a letter came from Myanmar govt saying" we invite a delegation from Bangladesh to discuss all outstanding matters between the two countries without any pre conditions". Negotiation started under jt secretary political of ministry of home affairs Mr Janibul Haque heading Bangladesh delegation in Myanmar. Myanmar was so hateful they didnot provide type writers as such treaty was signed on hand written documents. Myanmar dismantled the dam thus we could save Takenaf from being lost into sea. We defeated Myanmar's army completely with no loss of life from our side. This is in nutshell about NAFF WAR.

Bangladesh-Burma border clash

Bangladesh and Burmese border guards have exchanged fire amid rising tension over a controversial dam project on the Naaf river.
The brief shooting appeared to take place as Burma began constructing an embankment on the river.

There are no reports of any casualties.

A senior Bangladesh official says Burma has now agreed to suspend the construction work on the project.

The Naaf river, situated in south-eastern Bangladesh, forms part of the 320 km border between the two countries.

A senior military official said soldiers from the Bangladesh Rifles fired up to 25 warning shots from a post in the frontier town of Teknaf.

"Our guards had fired several warning shots to stop the construction and in reply to one to two rounds fired from Myanmar's [Burma] side," Colonel Mohammad Rafique Rahman told the AFP news agency.

Envoy summoned

Earlier, in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, the Burmese ambassador was summoned to discuss concerns over the plan to dam the Naaf.

The ambassador, Tint Lwin, said that Burma was not responsible for the building of the dam.

He said local villagers had started construction and the Burmese authorities had nothing to do with it.

Both countries are reported to have deployed additional troops along the border in recent days.

Possible damage

Bangladesh says if the project goes ahead, it would flood or cause erosion in its territory and damage shrimp cultivation projects.

They say the construction would also violate a 1962 agreement between Dhaka and Rangoon not to build any dams to obstruct or divert the flow of the Naaf.

"We will resist the building of the dam on the Naaf river. We cannot allow this to go ahead," Reuters quoted an unnamed Bangladeshi border official as saying.

The Burmese authorities were not available for comment.
