রবিবার এই ৫টি বিমানের মধ্যে প্রথম সি-১৩০ জে বিমানটি যুক্তরাজ্য হতে ফেরী ফ্লাইটের মাধ্যমে বিমান বাহিনীর বঙ্গবন্ধু ঘাঁটিতে অবতরণ করে

বিমান বাহিনীর আধুনিকায়নের লক্ষ্যে বর্তমান সরকার যুক্তরাজ্য থেকে বিমান বাহিনীর জন্য ৫টি অত্যাধুনিক সি-১৩০ পরিবহন বিমান ক্রয় করেছে।

রবিবার এই ৫টি বিমানের মধ্যে প্রথম সি-১৩০ জে বিমানটি যুক্তরাজ্য হতে ফেরী ফ্লাইটের মাধ্যমে বিমান বাহিনীর বঙ্গবন্ধু ঘাঁটিতে অবতরণ করে। আন্তঃবাহিনী জনসংযোগ পরিদপ্তরের (আইএসপিআর) এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এই তথ্য জানানো হয়।

এর আগে বাংলাদেশের সাথে যুক্তরাজ্য সরকারের অত্যাধুনিক ৫ টি সি-১৩০ জে পরিবহন বিমান ক্রয়ের চুক্তি হয়। বিমানগুলো মূলত যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের তৈরি হলেও এসব বিমানের মালিকানা যুক্তরাজ্যের হওয়ায় তাদের কাছ থেকে বিমানগুলো ক্রয় করা হয়। ক্রয়কৃত অবশিষ্ট বিমানগুলি পর্যায়ক্রমে যুক্তরাজ্য হতে নিয়ে আসার পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে।

উল্লেখ্য, সি-১৩০জে পরিবহন বিমান অত্যাধুনিক এভিওনিক্স ও উন্নত প্রযুক্তিসমৃদ্ধ পরিবহন বিমান যা মালামাল ও সৈন্য পরিবহনসহ দেশে এবং বিদেশে মানবিক সহায়তা কার্যক্রম এবং জাতিসংঘ শান্তিরক্ষা মিশনে ব্যবহৃত হবে। বিমান বাহিনীতে অত্যাধুনিক এই সি-১৩০জে বিমানের অন্তর্ভুক্তি, বিমান বাহিনীর পরিবহন ক্ষমতা সর্বোপরি বাহিনীর সক্ষমতাকে বহুলাংশে বৃদ্ধি করবে বিশেষজ্ঞরা মতামত দিয়েছেন।

বিমান আগমন উপলক্ষে বিমান বাহিনী ঘাঁটি বঙ্গবন্ধুতে এক আড়ম্বরপূর্ণ অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়। এ অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর নিরাপত্তা উপদেষ্টা মেজর জেনারেল (অব.) তারিক আহমেদ সিদ্দিক প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

এছাড়াও বিমান সদরের প্রিন্সিপাল ষ্টাফ অফিসারগণ, বিমান বাহিনী ঘাঁটি বঙ্গবন্ধু এর এয়ার অধিনায়ক এবং পদস্থ সামরিক কর্মকর্তারা অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
