CHITRAL— The attack on the peaceful scenic Chitral valley of Pakistan, in which 37 people died, is now being hinted to be backed by NATO forces in Afghanistan. An eye witness of the incident has revealed that the attack at Arandu on Saturday was monitored and supported by NATO and Afghan security forces. Sources told that gunship helicopters and jet fighters were seen around the area during the attack on Chitral Scouts. Some local residets claimed that they witnessed heavy shelling and bombardment. They claimed that gunship helicopters and jet planes were flying over Pakistan side of the border and was also revealed that the ammunition was dumped near the border by NATO forces.

“We have already informed the provincial and federal authorities that NATO fighter jets and gunship helicopters do tour our airspace over the border outposts.” A district official told this scribe in Chitral, on the condition of anonymity.

Local residents expressed their fear over the presence of NATO forces in the close proximity of the Arandu border.

Major Gen. Athar Abbas, the spokesperson of ISPR, while talking to a British media, claimed that the TTP’s absconders from Sawat and Bajur have reorganized in Kunar province of Afghanistan to hit back the nearest Pakistani regions. He wondered why and who is patting them there. When asked why not a ‘hot pursuit’, he appeared to refrain terming it ‘a delicate issue’. However, he clearly claimed that the insurgents in Kunar were getting support to carry out cross-border attacks.

It is pertinent to remind that Chitral is a very peaceful tourist region in Pakistan and the bloodshed like that on Saturday never been normal to the local residents.

Gul Hamad Farooqui has contributed to this story from Arandu, Chitral, Pakistan.

There was a country which was facing troubled times,,,

They took a bold decision & expelled US consulates & embassy OUT of their country,,,

Peace prevailed afterwards...

Pakistan should follow suit...

ALL US consulates & embassy r NOTHING but centres spying on Pakistan & causing tumult... Root them all out...

Actually, it's more pertinent to inform readers that Chitral abuts kunar province and that Pakistan have been excessively careless in allowing refugee camps to proliferate -- having spoken to Afghans who launched attacks into Afghanistan to attack taliban from inside Pakistan, Bajaur and Chitral figured prominently.

Friends the only way to deal with insurgency and insurgents is to kill them -- especially with the pashtun variety - If you don't kill them, they will attack again .

NA are partial enemies because of Pakistan’s interests are not supported by them. btw ISPR press release No PR191/2011-ISPR Dated: August 27, 2011 clearly describe participants of these attacks.

People are getting killed and its a delicate issue......really. Fcuk such delicacy and hit hard on that side of the border even if it means hitting NATO hard and if we can't do that then dismantle the seven hundred thousand strong army which cant protect its own citizens. Atleast this way the 80% resources can be put to other uses, better uses.

NA is surely your enemy, they cant be your friend if you helped and supported their worst and sworn enemy, this is a simple logic. But the thing is, NA dont exist as military power anymore, after the nato came to Afghanistan, they(NA) were all disarmed by the gov and ISAF, they are even not in the gov, they are in oppostion., secondly, this name NA is totally wrong, as this force was not coming from north only.

And what is your evidence for making this claim?

Now u will see none of my Indian friends will comment..................as they know what NATO and RAW is doing in Afghanistan.
