No conspiracy, it's real, many Arab states have warmed up to Assad now. Because he is winning and because in their eyes it's to counter Turkey after whole Khashoggi affair. China , Russia, much of EU support Assad too.

Turkey is doing humanitarian effort trying to prevent massacre in Idlib and rush of refugees into Turkey. Every player in Syria including the US is against it, however. So they have a tough decision to make ahead.

It's a good thing, i'm not interested in Erdogan trying to restore his Ottoman empire coming at a cost of erasing Arabism and no Arab should be in support of that.

Turkey has no such intentions. They are supporting the opposition and bringing back Syrian refugees back to their cities. They also have terror threat across their border which the regime doesn't want to deal with. And regime doesn't let refugees into their land because Iran does not want the Sunni refugees back. Assad may be different but he is not in control at this point in conflict. Iran will oppose Russian plans for post war Syria and mess up political process.

Thus Turkey is undergoing courageous effort to take care of those under opposition territory and seek guarantees that refugees will return even though US , Russia, Iran, Arabs and regime are all opposing their efforts.

Afrin was the only region of Syria untouched by war until Turks invaded it. It had 1 million Kurds there now all refugees in Assad held cities.
