I think we should all hold our horses a bit and wait for the fall of Kabul, which seems inevitable as of nowbut exactly how that plays out will determine what the future holds for Afghanistan and the region in general.

It was Pakistan under Gen Musharraf who allied with Bush and the neocons who joined the war on terror against the taliban in Afghanistan, not India. It is also a very different world from the late 90s when Pak had actual clout within Afghanistan.

An all out bloody civil war will have a spillover effect in Pakistan wrt not just a refugee crisis but more instability and related security issues. Maybe most importantly, is the CIA really leaving for good ? the troop presence will be gone but their networks will remain. The Afghan Taliban also appear to have aspirations of playing a different kind of innings this time around, they're looking for international legitimacy. Not many benefits to going back to being a pariah state stuck in medieval times.

Will be interesting to watch how it unfolds but an unstable Afghanistan is neither good for India, nor is it for Pakistan.

Apart from stopping watching mainstream sensationalist news, the other good thing people can do for themselves is to get off social media. I used to get really angry at people and still do believe most are really dumb sheep but people are also busy in their own lives, don't have either the time or the inclination to really figure out what is happening in the world so they defer to what they think are experts and pundits on TV.. and then there's all this garbage on social media that reinforces their biases, that's how these algorithms work.

Arnab is not worthy of respect even if I may be on the same side of his argument, It's pathetic how he conducts his program and foments all this chaos and 10 people all screaming over each other.. so, for or against, Indian or Pakistani...

As if fences will stop the historical movement of people on that border, it's not going to work unless all of it is manned by the army or paramilitary.

On a serious note, if China wants to protect her investments in Pakistan and Afghanistan then Northern boarder of India must be made hot again.

Actually, to focus on her 'real' problems, China needs to ensure that all her borders are safe and secure; even if it means negotiating and where possible, even granting concessions. It also means that China must play the big brother and resolve issues between countries which share a border with China. Once all her borders are safe, secure and healthy, China can truly focus on her external issues.
