Argentina won’t be joining BRICS

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Argentina will not be joining the BRICS bloc of developing economiesnext year as scheduled, a senior official in President-elect Javier Milei’s team said Thursday.

“We will not join the BRICS,” Diana Mondino, who Milei picked as foreign minister once he is sworn into office on Dec. 10, wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The move appears to be a preview of the drastic shift in foreign policy that will be implemented in Argentina once right-wing populist Milei takes office.

Bric is supposed to be a conglomerate of successful economic nations, Argentina unfortunately got far left behind in that aspect long ago.

BRICS has an economic framework, it is just that India is not part of the BRICS economic framework.

China and Russia, Brazil and South Africa have free trade agreements.

China accounts for 65.2 per cent of Russia's total foreign trade, with over 95 per cent of transactions settled in CNY.

China is Brazil's largest exporter and importer. China and Brazil have closed the CNY settlement loop, with all trade and investment in CNY.

China is the largest exporter and importer of South Africa. China and South Africa have signed a currency swap agreement, and most of their trade is settled in CNY.

Everyone trades with China. Having trade is not a common economic framework. Brazil has no free trade deal with China

Contrary to what you might think, China and Brazil have even more trade relations and depth of trade than China and Russia. China signed a free trade agreement with Brazil back in 1978 and now all economic actions between China and Brazil are settled in CNY.

China's original BRICS design had only three countries - China, Russia and Brazil. India was forced in by the Russians, China brought in South Africa, and Brazil wanted Argentina in.

Please take a close look at that article, it was about coming to run a special trade zone for negotiations. China will have investment and trade privileges in certain trade zones in Brazil.
