Hello, I wish to know the meaning of two Gujaratis words :

1. Shamada. This word comes in the song "Shubharambh" from the film Kai Po Che.

2. Helly, as in the name Helly Shah, the Indian TV actress.

I am from Gujrati speaking Family but only my mum use to speak Gujrati when she meet with old friends and cousins none of my family member speak it and i dont even understand alot, we only speak Urdu and English at our home.

we have several Gujrati speaking people in Karachi mostly Parsis and Ganchis.

It's partly Hindi, partly Gujarati.

It would be interesting to know as they must be in very, very small numbers. Gujaratis are not a Pakistani ethnic group and the only folks we had were Gujarati Muslims who came over during the partition, and of course their children and so on. Most partition arrivals hailed from East Punjab and Delhi.
