Anwesha - Saat Bhai Champa

Metallica is coming to India this year, may be they are trying to make them go to BD as well.

Anyways they are grandpas now, I still repent missing Opeth and Porcupine Tree! :(

Heck I couldn't even attend Jethro Tull when they came to Calcutta! :hitwall:

Wonder if Lars and hetfield still has that grunge. Evevn if they are old
they'll rock just fine I guess. Hetfield is still one of my favorites after Ozzy.

Metalica sucks. Tagore rocks 7 days a week 367.

I grew up in a house with too many older sisters who loved this kind of songs. I had no choice ( as a man) but to listen to Tagore and other chick flick musics.

You my friend, are a rare breed. It needs quite a patience for
a flamboyant BD to listen to Tagore 24/7. My house had similar problems
and thats why I was out most of the time anyways.

Won't blame you though, wonder what would have happened
if Tagore rocked, Headbanging! Hmmmmm.........

I'm more of a Progressive Rock guy, but among Metal Vocalists I'd rate Ronnie James Dio above all, followed by Bon Scott and Rob Halford.

very good voice even though i didn't understood anything. btw is she singing abt morning in first video, just a guess

It is actually a folk tale made into a movie and from there came this song which is basically a summary of what happened. The story is something like this:

Once upon a time, there lived a king. The king was not able to produce any heir to the throne through his three wives. The king was depressed and spent large amount of time by himself in the forest. A priest in the forest saw the king’s misery and gave him fruits of bearing. The priest instructed the king to feed the fruits to his wives and then they would conceive children. The king gave his three wives the fruits as instructed by the priest. Two elder queens did not produce any children. However, the younger queen gave birth to octuplets: seven boys and one girl. The elder queens became jealous and buried the babies in the garden before the younger queen gained consciousness from pregnancy. The babies magically blossom into seven champak flowers and a trumpet flower. The last baby, the girl, was born some time after first seven babies in a time when the elder queens left the room with seven babies and this enabled the maid to hide the baby from the elder queens and named the child Champa. Elder queens, then, placed seven champak flowers on the younger queen's bedside and claimed the queen gave birth to seven champak flowers. Champa grew up in the forest. After learning her origin from her maid, she helped to revive her brothers into princes.

Listen to this one....It is about shahid Khudiram Bose, a Bengali Revolutionary who fought against the British in struggle for independence.

The first song is by Anwesha and the second one is by none other than Lata Mangeskar(to all those who did not know, yes she has sung songs in Bengali as well)

You understood the way she sings.

I am pleasantly surprised to know that you picked up on that. I thought only a Bengali could understand that.

There is something in that girls vocal that gives you goosebumps. It is absolutely pure, what an experience and honor to hear her singing. God bless her.

Our classical music is very similar hence even if we dont understand what she is saying we can still judge whose a good and bad singer :)
