SENIOR MEMBER
Defence Minister A K Antony on Friday said India was not unduly worried about the growing Pakistani nuclear arsenal but was concerned that nuclear weapons in the troubled country might fall in the hands of extremists.
Our only worry is that Pakistans nuclear arsenal is always in danger of going into the hands of militants and terrorists. We are closely monitoring the happenings around us, Antony said, speaking to the media after felicitating a team of 11 woman officers of the Indian Air Force who climbed Mt Everest on May 25.
However, the minister dismissed fears emanating from reports that Pakistan was increasing the size of its nuclear arsenal. We know Pakistan is strengthening its nuclear arsenal. We are taking care of it. We are not unduly worried. We are capable against any threat, Antony said.
He said that considering the present scenario, Indian armed forces were keeping strong vigilance. Especially after the bin Laden killing, our armed forces are closely monitoring everything and they are ever vigilant, he added.
