Shireen Mazari may quit PTI
ISLAMABAD: While new faces are joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in a large numbers, its former secretary information Shireen Mazari is giving serious thoughts to quitting Imran Khan’s party sensing that he has softened his stance against the US and India after the successful October 30 Lahore rally, it is learnt.

Credible sources told The News that another major reason for Shireen’s change of mind was Khan’s extremely relaxed policy of accepting new faces without considering their past. The sources said though the PTI workers were neglecting media criticism in this regard, but after the joining of Zafar Iqbal Warriach, former minister of state for interior during Musharraf’s dictatorial regime, a sense has prevailed that the party is changing into a team of Musharraf’s cronies. PTI sources said Zafar Warriach was in-charge of the slamabad administration during the incidents of Lal Masjid and dragging of the chief justice in March 2007. The sources said Shireen Mazari might quit the party if it continued for some more days as her major ideology that there must be nationalistic change in Pakistan’s foreign policy is being ignored by the party chief and she is pushed to believe that Imran wants power like other politicians by pleasing the Uncle Sam.

“Shireen also believes that after joining of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the PTI will also be changed into a status quo party like others,” they added.

The sources said Shireen strongly believed that after Lahore’s show, Imran Khan had changed his strong and consistent stance against expansionist and imperialistic designs of America and against the cruelties of India. “Shireen also believes that softening of Imran’s stance regarding the US is on the ‘instruction’ of the establishment,” the sources added.

What is a credible source as stated in the news head paragraph? Second thing is, whatever Imran is doing, is a result of committee discussions, he's not doing or say anything on his own now. So SM's claims (according to that credible source) are out of context. We'll see in the coming days though.

apologies my remark made to felt so insulted that you even forgot the root cause of problems in pakistan and rather resorted to personal remarks , even your leader who promised a change has recognized feudalism as the primary problem. first they didnot meet, Nawaz wished to meet and sent Pir Pagaro birthday wishes...

Journalists hav so many black sheep amongst themselves... Shireen Mazari was out of the country for a few days and yes she has reservations on some recent joinings in PTI but she has confirmed that she is an active member of PTI CEC. This is how a democratic party works ...people don't always agree on everything and i think here i hav some praise for PMLN also because Javed Hashmi has openly criticised Sharifs on a few occassions. Can someone in PPP or MQM dare to show reservations against leadership's decisions ...Zulfiqar Mirza might be an answer but he is still a dubious character no one knows for sure is he acting alone ? ... or as Zardari's childhood friend (n thinking he won't be touched...) or on Zardari's secret mission ...?

Dr. Shireen Mazari strongly denies false rumors of leaving PTI

Islamabad, November 28: PTI Vice President Foreign and Security Affairs, Dr Shireen Mazari, has strongly denied the news item appearing in an English Daily that she is leaving the PTI. She has been out of the country for over a week and is still not back in Pakistan.

As in any democratic set up, and the PTI has a strong democratic tradition of discussion and dissent, there are issues on which there are disagreements amongst the members of the CEC and the party leader but these are part of the party discourse through which policies are finally formulated. The Party’s position on drones and the US “war on terror” continue to remain unchanged and its CEC decision to form a parliamentary board to whet all applicants for election tickets will protect the Party and its principles from the opportunist remnants of the Musharraf era and Zardari regime now scrambling to enter the PTI fold. The Chairman continues to place his trust in Dr Mazari as Vice President Foreign and Security Policy and there has been no discussion of her either leaving the post or the party.

Clearly someone within the Party has sought to create mistrust and misunderstanding by taking discussions within the party out of context and making them public. This is regrettable.
