Sri Lanka denies killing Tamil Nadu fisherman

New Delhi: Sri Lanka on Sunday denied the charges on The Lankan Navy of killing a Tamil Nadu fisherman saying that the Sri Lankan Navy is not involved. Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India Prasad Kariyawasam said, "The Lankan Navy is not involved, but serious investigations will be held to find out who is the behind such mischief."
The High Commissioner also said that Sri Lankan Navy never crosses the Indian side. He said, "Sri Lanka is not involved in the killing and the Lankan Navy has been told not to shoot on the Indian fishermen."
The Sri Lankan Navy allegedly killed another fisherman from Tamil Nadu, leading to an outrage in the state.

The fisherman, Jayakumar, is alleged to have been strangulated and pushed into the water by the Lankan navy. The body was brought to Nagapattinam on Sunday. This is the second fisherman to be killed allegedly by Lankan navy in ten days.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee who discussed the incident with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said, "There is no justification for shooting the fishermen. If Indian fishermen have done anything wrong, there is a due procedure of resolving."
Foreign Minister SM Krishna condemned the killing saying that it was totally unacceptable and has asked for more information from the Tamil Nadu government.

Let Tamil Nadu furnish the proof that it was the Sri Lankan Navy that was involved.

One has to ask WHY HAS TAMIL NADU CONTINUOUSLY OPPOSED JOINT PATROLLING OF THE PALK STRAITS BY THE INDIAN AND SRI LANKAN NAVY?

And of course, fisherman from Tamil Nadu are all innocent and never engage in gun running, drug smuggling, poaching and gang activities.

It can be explained :tamilnadu govt still supports LTTE and there are still lot of srilankan tamils residing in tamilnadu as refugees.These people and some in local indian tamil populace are adrent LTTE supporters.These people are responsible for smuggling arms and ammunition to northern srilanka in disguise of fisherman.So srilankan navy is with in its right shooting at them as indian forces do in kashmir to any infiltrator(as they call them).Either india must help srilanka in reining these elements who operates terror network from indian soil otherwise it must not cry foul when some of these guys get killed.

Simple solution:

JOINT PATROLLING OF THE PALK STRAIT BY THE INDIAN AND SL NAVIES.

Sri Lanka has proposed this time and time again.

It's Tamil Nadu that has been opposing this.

But screams blue murder when a fisherman dies.

Infiltrators, yes... however I agree innocent fisherman from Tamil Nadu should not be targeted except when they are poaching, and that too should be limited to arrest and fines.

The ball is in Tamil Nadu's court to prove its accusations that it is the SL Navy that is behind the 'killings.'
