In China if you can afford McDonalds or KFC, it is like you can afford 5 star restaurant in the western world. My friend made a very true observation when he said. In the west poor people are going to Mcdonalds. In China the rich people go to Mcdonalds. That is true because 90% of Chinese can't afford a chicken bun.

Give it a break bro, the same also goes for some regions in Turkey

McDonald's Is Still Very Cheap, But People Don't Want To Eat There

"As sales and profits have crumbled at McDonald's recently, some observers have blamed low-income Americans, saying they must not be able to afford Big Macs any more.

But that's wrong. If anything, Big Macs have gotten more affordable lately. The real problem is that the iconic chain needs to win back its true base: middle-class Americans looking for a cheap, quick meal.
............
And yet diners are still flocking to other chains despite their typically higher costs. When Chipotle raised menu prices earlier this year, customers didn’t bat an eye -- the chain reported a profit jump of 25 percent the following quarter. That suggests McDonald's problem isn't so much pricing, but a perception that its food isn't worth any price -- unlike, say, Chipotle, which has positioned itself as offering fast, fresh and quality food for which customers are willing to pay more"

In the US, McD's problems are that it is too cheap. The market here has been premiumizing - moving to more expensive and higher (perceived) quality items. There has been long term growth in Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, etc, while cheaper outlets have seen stagnation. McD has responded in the US by trying to introduce more upscale products, with mixed success (they can't turn over the old line without offending/driving away their existing customer base). The problem is exacerbated on an international level - its hard to come up with a single lineup that meets every consumer's expectation for price/quality in a single market, how do you do it worldwide?

It is really a problem of the market segmenting out. A highly segmented market is not one a single product line can dominate - you need cheap stuff for cheap (or poor) people, and expensive stuff for rich (and/or snobby) people. Can't make everyone happy in the same building. Economically, it provides a lot of niches for smaller players to move in.

@senheiser Your thread, reminded me of this event:

BTW, McDonalds, and other fast foods are really garbage. If one cares for his health, he should not eat those garbages.

On 20 August 2014, as tensions between the United States and Russia strained over events in Ukraine, and the resultant U.S. sanctions, the Russian government temporarily shut down four McDonald's outlets in Moscow, citing sanitary concerns. The company has operated in Russia since 1990 and at August 2014 had 438 stores across the country

Why someone need Mc's when he have such thing? :-)
