I totally disagree, there should not be any more divisions based on ethnicity.

All future divisions should only be based on administrative requirements and nothing else

Not division but allocation of seats based on population which already happen in Pakistan. It will forever solve Karachi MQM target killings and everyone will live in peace.

If the objective is to get rid of target killers then the solution is to kill these killers. If the objective is to destroy MQM then we will need to educate people to vote for people that will actually do better than MQM.

Objective is fair representation because Karachi is city of migrants.

There has to be one criteria for allocating NA seats for whole country. You cant have different rule for 1 city.Ethnic politics has harmed karachi.MQM also gets votes of memons, gujaratis and minorities. You dont need to win 80% of the vote to win the same number of seats anywhere.

What? Karachi is definition of ethnic politics and ethnic target killings. Allocation based on ethnic groups will solve this problem and minorities will also have fair representation based on their population. Memon and gujaratis are like 2% of population while native ethnic minorties in Karachi make up majority combined but have no representation. Racist ethnic party like MQM looking out for single ethnicity shouldn't represent them.

Rather ill-informed idea, the majority of ethnicity does not always factor in Karachi's politics anymore; this isnt the 80s nor is illiteracy and education that high in Karachi as in the rest of Pakistan.
Today's "Muhajir"(as if the ignorant here cannot understand the importance of downplaying that term) population is divided between two classes of affluent ones and middle class. Of the Affluent ones many are divided between PML(N), PTI with a few MQM or they really dont vote at all. The Middle class is now divided starkly between PTI and MQM with the latter taking the older areas of Karachi while PTI takes most of the newer lots along with the lesser MQM thug areas, other half is contested by some remnants of JI.

A lot of this vote no longer has to do with ethnicity and more to do with party performance perceptions. Mustafa kamal and other MQM initiatives from the early 90's still demand loyalty- but this is losing out to PTI with the youth or JI in case of nutjobs.

So based on what is essentially 10-20% of voting population which due to basic low turnout in all other areas has the rest of Pakistan trying to decide the fate of Karachi along with the Rangers operating in that area.

Ideally city like Karachi should vote on national issues and not galli mohala and nasal. Look at NA-48, Islamabad seat. Karachiite urdu speaker Asad Umar beat local Chauhdry Ashraf Gujjar N league by few thousand votes. Imagine any Karachi wala of punjabi origin winning in any MQM strong hold in Karachi, never.

So far none have tried- but Seraki PPP have won PPP seat in Karachi, so that logic of yours seems more borne out of some misguided ethnic bias than anything else

My point is simple. Ethnic party like MQM win 95% of Karachi seats when urdu speakers are not even half of population. If MQM agenda was something else then it wouldn't matter but this isn't the case. For that reason allocation of seats on basis of ethnic groups is only way to solve Karachi problem. Only fair representation can fix Karachi issues.

N league have many urdu speaking Karachitee like Zubair, Ismael Mistah, Hashmi etc in ranks and important positions but they don't have vote bank.

As far as Seraiki winning on PPP ticket, check your sources. He was not even seraki. Though PPP is federal party and not based on single ethnicity.

I guess Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was right to a certain degree in his speech after partition at jamia masjid Delhi. These paindo Punjabis like @Kabira have more hatred, envy and jealousy for the "muhajir/Urdu speakers" than the Hindus. These idiots don't know the ABC about Pakistan's history or the history of the muslim subcontinent and therefore have no sense of Pakistaniat. In their ignorant, provincial and myopic minds they only have hate for the urdu speaking citizens of Karachi and want to suppress the identity of Urdu speakers in other parts of the country. These bigots are the biggest bane of Pakistan and infest it like maggots.

Why re-ignite divisions in Karachi?Seats should be distributed on base of population and for administrative purposes
