ALGIERS, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has advocated the draft constitution allowing the army forces to participate in missions outside the country.

"It would be possible, according to the proposed amendments to the constitution, that our army forces to act abroad as part of peacekeeping missions of the United Nations," Tebboune said in a press briefing held in his office on Friday.

President Tebboune stressed "the participation of Algerian army forces in missions outside the country's border is not aimed at raiding any country but rather to maintain peace." Enditem

----------

I see where it is going. Algeria is not an unsubstantial force. Can put 2 tank armies, though on obsolete equipment.

In terms of airforce, the ground attack force is ok for the military its size, think of a maximum 20-30 planes on a mission. Substantial helicopter force.

Nothing in terms of EW, or advanced situational awareness besides drones.

Readiness levels were kept high in recent years due to troubles in he south.

Paul2, tell the Chinese to worry about India...and let Algeria's outdated army deal with the Lybian saga.
