Ok guys, as you know, situation in all of UK is VERY volatile right now. These looters rioting on these streets have access to hand guns and the like, knives and what not and don't really have much to lose if they go to prison. In reality, common citizen can't even defend themselves.

Currently, there's a rumour going on that there's looter (looter presence in the area has been seen by many people) presence antagonizing the outside, and the prison is on high alert for a prison riot. There is also reports of shooting at police in another area.

Of course people are looking for alternate methods of defence as situation is very troublesome (houses have been attacked, cars burnt, towns on terror-induced curfew).

In UK it is allowed to purchase an "Airsoft Gun" -- basically shoots plastic pellet bullets and causes some pain which would deter but not maim anybody.

Would appreciate if people on this forum with knowledge on weapons could provide some further information for people in UK if they're feeling threatened (situation is pretty volatile as I already mentioned, police is unable to do anything and isn't using tear gas or rubber bullets).

CO2 pellet gun, Bat or crossbow. Airsoft is harmless.

This is a bad idea. All you're going to do with an Airsoft gun is make the person more likely to hurt you.

What might be more useful is if you sprayed painted an airsoft gun black and use it as a deterrent if you get into trouble (which I highly highly highly doubt you will)

I'm not going to go out and start Rambo'ng with an airsoft/gas gun; just feel that some people may feel threatened and fighting against a group of 30 thugs isn't the best option to them.

CO2 powered paintball rifles firing frozen paintballs sounds like a better idea.

thrse rioting youths are pussies....beleive me.even good use of your fist will be enough to send tjem crying..but the problem that they are too many...
buy black pepper powder in bulk and throw at them from upper floor window...and buy pepper spray for close encounters....
you can buy fire crackers...make small bags of pepper powder...embed fire crackers inside the bags...and in case of trouble fire the cracker...and throw at the rioter..it will explode enough pepper in the air to deter them.
for long range warning shots just buy a "ghulail"

If I can't have a firearm, give be a baseball bat or a club. Much better than a knife. If I've got a baseball bat, and some guy is coming at me with a knife, I guarantee I'll break every bone in his hand and arm with the first swing, and then the next will cave in his skull.

i see no reason why you wouldnt be able to own one

a ''good standard'' airsoft will typically fire 300 - 575 feet per second, 6 mm BBs

all you need is C02 or a battery pack. some look pretty real, especially in the dark; so it could be a good deterrant

i would say ''just call the police'' but it seems they are a bit busy and late in responding in some areas

I know, these guys can only do something in large groups. Just making the thread if anybody's house or w/e comes under attack and they feel they need to have non-lethal to help them.

Haha, we've had the same argument. If I was forced to use a knife, the only way to win would be to slowly get close, and then rush full speed inside the swing of the guy with the bat. Crowd him, then stick him. The problem is, you're going to get whacked badly at least once, and if it's your head or your knife arm, you're done.
