IF, the first 7 month were basically wasted and now pretty much will depend on the coming budget, with recent statements of DM Parrikar about not to expect many incrases in the defence budget, not sounding too good.

I'm not overly pessimistic, the indian economy is on a healthy growth path again and if the defence budget is properly managed there is enough money to go around.

The DM just needs to putting pen to paper on the aforementioned deals. The DAC meeting more regularly (something he has boosted about) is irrelevant if the CCS doesn't subsequently sign them. I do think 2015-15 will see the majority of this backlog cleared though, this is what I hear.

There is no question of the defence budget being cut. The New Deal was a product of its time and has little relevance to the position india is in in 2015.

There is still a massive shortage of money as the govt has identified many areas to spend money but sadly has very limited resources,that's why we Modi is making all these foreign trips.The good news is the situation will improve a lot in next 3-4 years

Another "hopeful" deal to be signed "shortly" that hasn't been signed yet.....



+ it is interesting Shiv Aroor has tweeted 8, it has always been stated as 6 units with a follow on clause for 6.
