Air Force pilot dies as training jet crashes in Tangail

Bhai I don't think ground attack aircraft which typically fires rockets fly that high - but I could be wrong.

I am not sure if a fighter is required to fire a rocket. You need attack helicopter for this kind of job. We just dont have any other platform to appropriately use weapons.

You are right. F7 may not be the right platform for ground attack duties, UNLESS intent is to neutralize *sophisticated* hostile infantry in the area or even insurgents who have (say) AA flak mounted on pickup trucks which presents a clear and imminent threat - unlikely in non-wartime scenario.

The A-10 Warthog and the Russian equivalent, Su-25, were purposely designed for ground attack and army air support cover. These are both heavy aircraft designed around Gatling guns (rotary cannons to be precise). Here is the GAU-8 cannon of the A-10 compared to a VW Bug. The GAU-8/A is extremely accurate and can fire 4,200 rounds per minute.

Slow-moving ground attack platforms such as Apaches and Cobra helos, or Russian Mi-24/28 platforms (I believe we may be getting Mi-24's at some point) have their own issues, such as susceptibility to close range missiles.
