Export and import activities between Bangladesh and India through Akhaura land port have remained suspended since Saturday morning due to strike enforced by workers in Agartala of India.
Sources said huge goods are exported to Agartala, capital of Tripura state, through the land port from Bangladesh every day.
The Indian traders said they are facing enormous problems since long to carry the goods to different destinations due to dilapidated condition of roads and highways and lack of storage facilities.
They said Agartala Workers Association called the indefinite strike demanding immediate reconstruction and renovation of the worn out roads and highways and adequate storage facilities for the imported goods.
As a result, export-import activities through the land port have remained suspended since this the morning.
Akhaura port officer Mohammad Abul Bashar confirmed the suspension of the port activities due to the strike by labourers in Agartala.

As the transport owner in BD started strike all over the country due to dilapidated condition of the roads the Agartala follow suits. Seems like they are following the same foot step as it is working here. This is the first time in history when transport owners are demanding better road conditions.
I hope somebody in BD should follow Anna Hazari as well. We need somebody like him.
