Why is failure to integrate any less valid a reason than a troubled childhood, drugs, or just simply personal disposition?

Am an immigrant to the US. I learned passable English in less than one yr. I started working when I was 12 yrs old by delivering newspapers, the Honolulu Advertiser in the morning and the Honolulu Star Bulletin in the afternoon. In my teen yrs, I work nightshift janitorial at the IBM building downtown Honolulu. In high school, I learned how to fly before I got my driver's license. After I got my US citizenship, I joined the USAF. As my avatar shows, I am a Cold War veteran on the F-111 and Desert Storm veteran on the F-16. The only criminal records I have are traffic violations, which everyone have.

So you tell us what is the real problem here.

Because some of these kids are born here, they had the opportunity to go to school and make a life for themselves, but instead they choose crime. So i reckon because they are lazy and prefer quick money or their upbringing has been like that.

That maybe. But if some who were borned in-country, then what were their parents doing? My parents made it clear to their children that learning English was our first priority, then came other values that we must learn and accept as part of our lives from 1975 on.

Failure/refusal to integrate is not a first generation immigrants problem. That failure/refusal can, does, and have occurred in second generation immigrants. Laziness is not a valid argument. If you are lazy, no criminal organization would accept you. A noob in any gang is generally the hardest working s.o.b in the gang. If you are female, you have to 'do' the males. If you are male, you are everyone else's gopher, as in go-for-this and go-for-that. No gang is ever profitable with having lazy members.

They are a huge problem, true the Somali community has such issues but they are literally half the number.
Anyway the problem should go away within a decade or so as there is no further migration from there and the youth who were/are causing problems would be of an advanced age.

What I noticed with people who have 6 to 7 children especially among Somalis is most are left neglected.

sudan was messed up due to civil war. the west has nothing to do with that
