Afghanistan under the knife

I was thinking that but do you think Iran will subsidies your supply caravans with equal amount as govt. of Pakistan does?

Why not? Do you really think the recent agreement on future oil trade with Iran is not going to reap any "other benefits"? Such deals are always of strategic proportions. The same old formula of "you scratch my back, I scratch yours". Iran gets a huge energy client base in us along with China (China and India together make up a big compensation in terms of energy clients) while we get to transit our goods from Iranian ports straight into Afghanistan. Besides, western Afghanistan is more Persian and hence they won't have an issue connecting the border.

If you can subsidize out of "grace", why can't Iran that too when it will also strategically benefit them in the region? :azn:

I am sorry, but i think you are confusing mohajirs and Pakistani culture. They are only 8% and yes you can say that they are more like Indians than Afghanis.... lol, i don't think Punjabis or Pashtuns wear sarees....

We are not pretending to be Arabs. I guess you don't understand Islamic culture do you??
Pakistanis citizens still wear saree,... Saree is a dress man ,Including Punjabi and pushtuns I've seen many womans who wear saree in Pakistan.. Our Hindu comunity always wear saree...

"Afghanistan will collapse into civil war when western troops fall out"

We all know that very well... Afghan people doesn't know, how can they live in peace? They got used to fight since very long. If they cant fight against others, they will fight each-others...

I have no hope for them....:undecided:

The problem is, that country has always been considered a backyard rather than a country. With Pakistan's obsession of making it "a virtual part" of Pakistan, their unrelenting support to Taliban and other ruthless groups in the country, development, peace, infrastructure, education etc is simply not possible.

While that happens, Pakistan conveniently blames NATO for Afghanistan's and its own miseries without accepting its own miscalculations:

- Even post USSR withdrawal, under the "great" Talibunnies, Afghanistan was like the 7th century Arabia with no education, no proper cropping, no technology, no development, no medical industry and in fact, no industry at all. Taliban flourished under the blessing of Pakistani military generals who thought they could use them as a bullwark against us to offset a direct confrontation in future and the troubles that would bring along. It failed miserably.

- Pakistan's eagerness to fight the Russians in a war that had absolutely nothing to do with Pakistan at all. Without seeing the long term benefit of neutrality in global conflicts, Pakistan launched into the frenzy of fighting a war that was not even its own. By talibanizing Afghanistan, it not only earned the Russian grudge but also earned Afghan people's blistering anger, thereby making another block against itself.

These two points, which started with the second point, is the cause of current crisis in Afghanistan and Pakistan's common region.

Afghanistan's collapse will be the worst possible scenario for us. 4 Million Afghan refugees are already a burden on our fragile economy, imagine if millions more descend on us, fleeing from civil war. I see the holocaust revisited in such a situation. Secondly, along with hordes of refugees, the Afghans will bring drugs and the characteristic "Gun Culture", the fruits of which Pakistan continues to reap as a consequence of the exodus of the 80s.
Pakistan must go out of it's way to ensure that such a situation never arises. We must take a central role in Afghanistan, should need be to stabilize it. If not then we must urge the SCO as an observer country to intervene in Afghanistan. That way Afghanistan does not fall into chaos, we avert a humanitarian catastrophe, our economy remains intact, the SCO gets a major role in South Asian Geo-Politics and we don't even get our hands dirty.
Everybody goes home happy and a dollar richer!

It is surprising to read your point of view especially when one looks at the progress Afghanistan has made in the last decade with the help of the U.S. and NATO forces. The nation that was once crumbling under the dictatorship of the Taliban is witnessing changes that were unthinkable a decade ago. There is simply no reason for one to carry a pessimistic view regarding the future of Afghanistan. We agree that challenges still remain, but we’ve come a long way from the days when the nation did not even have proper governance. Today, a democratically elected government is running the country. ANSF continues to grow in strength, and in numbers. We can see the hard work of the U.S. and NATO paying off with the way they are fighting off the terrorists. And that day is not far when they will be more than capable of independently protecting the nation. We are also cautious of this transition period and therefore, we are not rushing the exit plan, and want to leave ANSF with all the necessary tools and training to withstand any future attacks.
