TransJakarta: 25 cents anywhere in the city! | Ride on Jakarta's BRT Public Transportation Indonesia

TransJakarta (stylised as transjakarta) is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was the first BRT system in Asia. TransJakarta commenced operations on 15 January 2004 with the aim of providing a fast public transport system to help reduce rush hour traffic. The system is considered as the first revolutionary public transit mode in the capital city of Indonesia.[5] The buses run in dedicated lanes and ticket prices are subsidized by the regional government. As of 2018, TransJakarta has the world's longest BRT system (251.2 km in length).[6][4], and serves on average 663,000 passengers daily.

Greater Jakarta Commuter Line

KRL Commuterline is a commuter rail system for Jakarta Metropolitan Area in Indonesia. Commonly known as Commuter line or KRL synonym (Indonesian: Kereta Rel Listrik) for Electric multiple unit (EMU). It was known as KRL Jabodetabek before as Jabodetabek refers to Jakarta metropolitan area. At present the service is extended beyond Jabodetabek to Rangkasbitung in Banten and Cikarang in Bekasi Regency.

It is operated by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI), a subsidiary of the Indonesian national railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). The name of the operator changed from previous PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ) since 19 September 2017.[6] The current rolling stock consists of used Japanese trains from Tokyo Metro, Toyo Rapid, JR East, Tokyu, and local-produced trains from Industri Kereta Api (INKA).

The rail system uses metro/rapid transit rolling stock standard and operates at high frequency with a minimum headway of five minutes. As of June 2018, the average number of KRL users per day reaches 1,001,438 users on weekdays, with a record of the highest number of users served in one day is 1,154,080.[7]The number is targeted to reach 1.2 million passengers per day by 2019

There are many street food in Jakarta but my favorite one is bubur ayam (chicken rice porridge), you can find it every where in Jakarta (and Indonesia), particularly in the morning and night with less than 1 US dollar (Rp 10000-12.000).

Another tourist destination in Jakarta is kepulauan seribu or thousand islands. There are around 342 islands in thousand islands but not all open for tourism. The open ones are Macan island, Bidadari island, ayer island, putri island, tidung island, Pramuka island etc

Thousand Island (wikipedia)

The Thousand Islands (officially Kepulauan Seribu) are a chain of islands to the north of Jakarta's coast. It forms the only regency of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. It consists of a string of 342 islands[2] stretching 45 km (28 mi) north into the Java Sea at West Jakarta Bay and in fact north of Banten Province.

A decree[3] states that 36 islands may be used for recreation. Of these, only 13 islands are fully developed: 11 islands are homes to resorts and two islands are historic parks. 23 are privately owned and are not open to the public.[4] The rest of the islands are either uninhabited or support a fishing village.[4]

Another street food that is awesome and can be seen in almost every corner in Jakarta is ketoprak. Usually the seller will show up starting from the morning up until the night.

If you are in South Jakarta I recommend you "Sambung Nikmat" restaurant who serve delicious Soto Betawi. The place is in Pondok Pinang (Ciputat Raya street), I believe many taxi driver knows the place. PS: They will offer you innards or meat, I recommend you to order full meat. I dont like innards (liver, hearts, bowels, etc)
